Read Full BioSt. Paul and The Broken Bones is a six-piece soul band based in Birmingham, Alabama, United States that formed in 2012. The band is composed of Paul Janeway (vocals), Browan Lollar (guitar), Jesse Phillips (bass), Andrew Lee (drums), Al Gamble (keys), and Allen Branstetter (trumpet). The band tours with both trombone and baritone saxophone as well.
Janeway is a young man who began wailing straight out of the womb, and most folks would agree that he hasn’t stopped since. “Oh what a set of lungs that child has,” they’d say, “he must be destined for something special.” Not wishing to disappoint, and being a good southern boy, Paul began singing in church, stretching his vocal cords with an eye toward becoming a man of the cloth.
The cloth, however, didn’t appreciate young Paul’s affinity for dirty jokes, Prince, and Tom Waits, and he was inclined to search elsewhere for co-conspirators. He began plying his trade with whomever would have him. With a wholly re-imagined take on the sounds he’d grown up singing and seeking, Paul recruited a rag-tag band of like-minded weirdoes, visionaries, and hacks to help him harness the power he now knew he possessed. Under the nom du guerre St. Paul and the Broken Bones, the motley crew roams the countryside looking to get cabooses shakin’, faces meltin’, and brothers and sisters everywhere testifyin’
Call Me

That I thought I knew
This ain't the party
That I thought we'd do
You got your limit, baby
I got mine
6-11, 3-3-6-9
You got to tell me baby
We ain't the lovers
That will tare me down
We ain't the fortune
All over town
You got your limit, baby, I got mine
6-11, 3-3-6-9
You got to call me baby
I need you to pick up that telephone
And dial those numbers hottie
I need you to call me
I need to hear your sweet voice
Let me, let me, let me, let me hear you again
I need, I need, I need, I need, I need you baby
I need, I need, I need, I need, I need you baby
Got to pick up, got to pick up that telephone
Please, please oh baby
You got your limit, baby
I got mine
6-11, 3-3-6-9
Please oh please baby
Pick up that telephone
I need you to pick it up baby
I need you to pick it up now baby
The lyrics of St. Paul & The Broken Bones's song "Call Me" are somewhat ambiguous and can be taken in a number of different ways, but they seem to largely focus on the disappointment and frustration that the speaker is feeling over a failed relationship. The opening lines – "This ain't the hottie that I thought I knew / This ain't the party that I thought we'd do" – suggest a sense of disillusionment, as though the speaker had thought things were going to be one way, but has now realized that they were wrong.
The numbers listed in the song – "6-11, 3-3-6-9" – are somewhat enigmatic, but they seem to suggest some sort of code or phone number that the speaker wants the other person to call. The repetition of "You got your limit, baby, I got mine" also adds to the sense of frustration, as though both parties have reached their breaking point and there's no more room for compromise.
Despite all of this, the central message of the song seems to be one of longing and desperation. The repeated refrain of "I need you baby" is a plea for the other person to call, suggesting that despite everything that's happened, the speaker still wants to try and make things work.

I first heard them on Good Morning America and for the first time in ten years my grandfather that is 83 with a tumor on his lung and cancer got up and did a little dance and laughed. And we needed that in our family because my uncle and also my father figure passed last week. So this is for the band now you guys are by now my favorite (band) and do thank you for that moment that I can now have of my grandpa

Literally one of the tightest bands. That guitar player doesn't show off much, but when he does... holy shit. Top to bottom, one of the best bands out there right now.
