Summertime think it was June
Yeah, I think it was June
Layin' back head on the grass
Chewing gum havin' some laughs
Yeah, havin' some laughs
You make me feel like the one
Make me feel like the one
The one
You make me feel like the one
Make me feel like the one
The one
Drinkin' by drinkin' for two
Drinkin' with you
When drinkin' was new
Sleepin' in the back of my car
We never went far
We didn't need to go far
You make me feel like the one
Make me feel like the one
The one
You make me feel like the one
Make me feel like the one
The one
I don't know where we are goin' now
I don't know where we are goin' now
Wake up call coffee and juice
Rememberin' you
What happened to you?
I wonder if we'll meet again
Talk about life since then
Talk about why did it end
You make me feel like the one
Make me feel like the one
The one
You make me feel like the one
Make me feel like the one
The one
I don't know where we are goin' now
I don't know where we are goin' now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now
So take a look at me now, now
In Stereophonics’ song “Dakota”, the lyrics tell the story of a past lover and the memories that they shared together. The singer recalls moments of laying in the grass, drinking and laughing together, and even sleeping in the back of the car. The lover made the singer feel like they were the one, and they wonder if they will ever meet again to talk about why it ended. The chorus repeats “You make me feel like the one” emphasizing the impact this person had on the singer’s life.
The song paints a nostalgic picture of a carefree summer romance that has since ended. The singer is left wondering where they are going now and what happened to the person that made them feel so special. The repetition of “So take a look at me now” at the end of the song suggests a sense of acceptance and moving on from the past while also acknowledging the impact that the relationship had on them.
