Just Hold On
Steve Aoki Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So you could see
The things no one can see
Feels like you're standing on the edge
Looking at the stars
And wishing you were them
What do you do when a chapter ends?
Do you close the book and never read it again?
Where do you go when your story's done?
You can be who you were or who you'll become
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, if it all goes wrong
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, darling just hold on
The sun goes down and it comes back up
The world it turns no matter what
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, if it all goes wrong
Darling, just hold on
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, darling, just hold on
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh
It's not over 'til it's all been said
It's not over 'til your dying breath
So what do you want them to say when you're gone?
That you gave up or that you kept going on?
What do you do when a chapter ends?
Do you close the book and never read it again?
Where do you go when your story's done?
You can be who you were or who you'll become
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, if it all goes wrong
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, darling just hold on
The sun goes down and it comes back up
The world it turns no matter what
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, if it all goes wrong
Darling, just hold on
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh
Darling, just hold on
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh
If it all goes wrong
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh
Darling just hold on
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh
If it all goes wrong, darling just hold on
The song "Just Hold On" by Steve Aoki is a tribute to his dearly departed friend, superstar producer and DJ Avicii, who passed away in 2018. The lyrics express the feeling of being at the edge of a new chapter in life, and wishing to see what lies ahead. The singer wishes they had a time machine to see everything that is unseen but at the same time is anxious about the future, feeling like they are standing on the edge and looking at the stars. The message is to be strong, stay positive, and just hold on even in times of turbulence and uncertainty.
The lyrics also address the idea of resilience and hope, with lines like "It's not over 'til it's all been said/It's not over 'til your dying breath," and "You can be who you were or who you'll become." The singer urges the listener to keep going and not give up, to be brave and face the challenges that come with the end of a chapter. Their advice is to hold on, even when it feels like everything is falling apart.
Overall, "Just Hold On" is a powerful and uplifting anthem that encourages listeners to stay positive and persevere through life's challenges. It is a tribute to Avicii and a message of hope to those who may be struggling with their own personal challenges.
