Luka
Suzanne Vega Lyrics

My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before

If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was

I think it's because I'm clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe it's because I'm crazy
I try not to act too proud

They only hit until you cry
After that you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore

Yes, I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
If you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing thrown

Just don't ask me how I am
Just don't ask me how I am
Just don't ask me how I am

My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before

If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was

And they only hit until you cry
After that, you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore

People misuse the word 'abuse'. There is such a thing as emotional abuse, but this is not being acknowledged, as demonstrated by the fact that whenever people use the term 'child abuse', they are almost always referring to either child physical abuse or child sexual abuse. People need to be much more careful with their words. Here is a good article explaining why the most harmful form of child abuse is the kind that is not being acknowledged: child emotional abuse:

You Carry the Cure In Your Own Heart
Emotional abuse of children can lead, in adulthood, to addiction, rage, a severely damaged sense of self and an inability to truly bond with others. But—if it happened to you—there is a way out.

Prince did write a song about child physical abuse, in which he claimed to have been a victim of it himself:

@Lesley Smith Over-analyzing something simple to flatter yourself. Insecurity got nothing to do with an unruly kid. I got beat as a child and I deserved it. My other siblings didn't because it only takes a scolding to set them straight. Me on the other hand, like to push buttons.
