Tanya Denise Tucker (born October 10, 1958) is an American country music singer. She may be best remembered for her debut single and trademark song "Delta Dawn," which went to number 6 on the country charts. Delta Dawn
Tanya Tucker Lyrics
Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky?
She's forty-one and her daddy still calls her "baby"
All the folks around Brownsville say she's crazy
'Cause she walks downtown with a suitcase in her hand
Looking for a mysterious dark-haired man
In her younger days they called her Delta Dawn
Prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on
Then a man of low degree stood by her side
Promised her he'd take her for his bride
Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky?
Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky?
Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky?
Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky?

Who remembers singing this with your mom, dad, and four sisters over 30 years ago?
You were driving across the country, in a converted school bus, turned moving van, in the early 1980's.
For you were moving YET AGAIN, for the umpteenth time,,( this time from rural Illinois's to rural Idaho), for reasons you still don't understand..and never will.
You all tried to harmonize, and you were always that one voice that was off key.
But your mother and sisters patiently let you butcher the song any way, just so you could be part of the group?
And it wasn't until ten years later that you finally learned all the lyrics and could sing this song, nearly in tune?
Thumbs up if you remember THAT.
