THE MAINSTREAM are a collective of musicians working in different genres .Their … Read Full Bio ↴THE MAINSTREAM are a collective of musicians working in different genres .Their backgrounds include hiphop ,folk ,acoustic ,indie , rock and pretty much anything else ; and The Mainstream is an experiment in combining any or all of these genres . So why The Mainstream ? You could say that it's because their influences are mainstream ,or because they hope to create something that will become mainstream ,but mainly it's because they know that what they do will be enjoyed by an exclusive group of music appreciators ,and in that sense their music is definitly not mainstream. The project was born in the summer of 2004 when the two producers Joh & Samiel met during a vacation in Elba /Italy. Only a few months later they started writing the first songs and eventually began recording in Joh's studio during the freezing winter of 2004. On the rare times they didn't write or record music, Joh taught Samiel how to start a fire in the studio's own unique fireplace (you need to really know how to start a fire in Joh's studio, because the building is poorly isolated ). The songs are oftentimes inspired by 'Joh's ever changing moods' as well as by 'him rasing his two children'.These days Joh(vocals,guitars,production) and Samiel(bass,programming,production ) are spending countless hours in the studio again working on a new album that will be released in 2008 in addition to the previously released first album 'X' !
