Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In
by The 5th Dimension

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
Age of Aquarius
Aquarius
Aquarius

Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind's true liberation
Aquarius
Aquarius

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
Age of Aquarius
Aquarius
Aquarius
Aquarius
Aquarius

Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in, the sunshine in
Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in, the sunshine in
Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in, the sunshine in

Oh, let it shine, c'mon
Now everybody just sing along
Let the sun shine in
Open up your heart and let it shine on in
When you are lonely, let it shine on
Got to open up your heart and let it shine on in
And when you feel like you've been mistreated
And your friends turn away
Just open your heart, and shine it on in

I wish I convey to you all, the meaning of this song. In April 1969, I was just 20 years old. I had just returned to the states from Viet Nam, after 15 tough months in combat, as a U.S. Marine. Like so many of us, I saw things that no one should witness or endure. I came home to a young girl (Geri) whom I had met and dated, for a mere 3 weeks, in November 1967.
She was just 16 years old then. I was home on leave before shipping off to Viet Nam. Yes, I treated her like the 16 year old girl that she was!! When I returned, I listened to this song in my new, 1967 Chevelle 307, on Rt 81, as I visited her, every weekend that I could, in East Aurora, NY, travelling from my duty station at Camp LeJeune, NC. I was then, as I am now, a hopeless, hapless romantic…and a warrior. Purple Heart and all.

For the most part, I am okay. This and other songs, help put my mind at ease.

We have now been married going on 51 years. I am 71 now, and can travel back in time, through a time tunnel to those days...whenever I hear this and other songs.

Finally, to all of my brothers and sisters who made it back from the jungle, highlands, hospitals, etc. In my final years, I hope and pray that you are doing okay. Also, to the beautiful, wonderful nurses who helped me, in July 1968, where I was medevaced, to the U.S. Air Force General Hosp, Cam Ranh Bay, South Viet Nam.

@Bernard Bochenski So, you should have said it at the beginning of the comment rather than saying "I wish I convey to you all, the meaning of this song''
Don't yo think?

Bernard Bochenski

@Legio XIII As I said, purposely, "This and other songs..."

You said the same for another song (you made me so very happy). Now, I think you have to make a decision brother; which one you choose?

When this dreadful coronavirus is over they should get together the world's best known performers to sing this eternally uplifting song.....all of them together....what a prospect that would be....let the sunshine in
