Windy
The Association Lyrics

Who's peekin' out from under a stairway
Calling a name that's lighter than air
Who's bending down to give me a rainbow
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy

And Windy has stormy eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)

And Windy has stormy eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment

Associations' harmonizing is right up there with Simon & Garfunkel and Beach Boys.

This was the 60's. That's what we did back then. As for the comparison, the difference is S&G and The Beach Boys wrote their own songs. Windy is a Jimmy Webb song, albeit really effing good.

@Edward Horwitz There is a movie called The Wrecking Crew. There is one particular part where Tommy Tedesco said there was a lick on one of their songs he did that they couldn't do and were frustrated because it was out of their league. Vocals are all them and very very good. Music... Nerp. Sorry. Hal, Tommy Carol, etc... All studio musicians on the albums. I really like the Association. Cool songs, a fan and not being negative about them. Love the harmonies. I see people on here saying negative things about the Beach Boys. Which is pretty goofy but hey... To each their own I guess. They were my Mom's. I never really appreciated them until I got older and really studied what Brian Wilson was doing. Unbelievable. Untouchable. All opinions aside. He was a monster of modal pivots and it should be ilegal to talk smack about him lol. Association is awesome. Take care Edward. I'm with ya Brother. 8^)

I just looked up the Wrecking Crew. The band was full of fine musicians, but they were not the Association. No way at all. I've listened to them since 1967, and their voices are unique, as well as the harmonics, instrumentation, and syncopation.

This may sound weird, but when I listen to this, I close my eyes. It puts me back into an era where my Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and Parents were still alive. ~Sigh~

Ride Captain Ride was my song grooving me into adolescence.

@Robert Pace I remember them all.👍

@Photo Not Available Downtown was the first pop song I remember liking. Then Goldfinger and California Dreaming and I'll be There by the Four Tops.
