The Boys Of Summer
The Ataris Lyrics

Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer's out of reach

Empty lake, empty streets
The sun goes down alone
I'm driving by your house
Though I know you're not home

I can see you
Your brown skin shining in the sun
You got your hair combed back
And your sunglasses on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

I never will forget those nights
I wonder if it was a dream
Remember how you made me crazy
Remember how I made you scream

Now I don't understand what happened to our love
But, baby, when I get you back
I'm gonna show you what I'm made of

I can see you
Your brown skin shining in the sun
I see you walking real slow and you're
Smiling at everyone
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

Out on the road today
I saw a Black Flag sticker on a Cadillac
A little voice inside my head said
"Don't look back, you can never look back"

I thought I knew what love was
What did I know?
Those days are gone forever
I should just let them go, but

I can see you
Your brown skin shining in the sun
You got that top pulled down
And that radio on, baby

Now I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

I can see you
Your brown skin shining in the sun
You got that hair slicked back
And those Wayfarers on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

You know you're old when a 2003 cover of a 1984 song makes you feel nostalgic. Sigh.

Michael Cole - Hamer

I know I'm old, please don't remind me lol

Kevin Stephenson

The thing is this still sounds fresh !

@ACR lol it's all forgiven. Hearing this song shuts down the grown up math conscious adult part of me too 😉 let's just agree WE LOVE THIS SONG. 😂❤🔥🔥🔥🔥

ACR

@Rebecca Smith OH! Whoops, looks like I got ahead of myself here. Looks like we will need to wait for another 2 years before this is true.

Rebecca Smith

@ACR I know it's been a year but I'm going to call into question tour math from this comment.... they released this song 19 years after Don Henley (1984-2003) and at 2021 it's still only 18 years since the Ataris released it (2003)

2003: we were emo teens with the world still in front of us.
2020: we're 30s with unfulfilled dreams and fine lines wondering where the time went

I'm 38 and still wondering...

You can still turn it around.

If you were 15 when this came out you are 47 now... Crazy
