Maybe it’s in way that their songs have been nostalgically glazed with soul and 60’s psychedelic rock…
Maybe it’s the sun drenched jangle guitars, heavy set kicks and snares, and soulful vocals…
Maybe it’s gravitational churning of their songs that invite you to move along with them…
“Sure, a lot of bands manage to churn out pretty convincing ’60s-flavored, throwback garage rock these days. Those other bands, however, don’t share The Birds of Night’s secret weapon — the unmistakably soulful pipes of frontman Andrew Rothlisberger, which sound just as much like they’re being piped in from some unseen AM radio offstage as from Rothlisberger himself. And that, my friends, makes all the difference in the world.” - Cory Graves, Centraltrack.com
" Its jangly garage rock mentality makes it seem like a gem in the midst of the fools gold that floods the airwaves." - Leah Lovecat, Dingusonmusic.com
“The Birds of Night ditched a bunch of elaborate electronic gear and stuck to a bass, drum and guitar formula, paying homage to rock legends that came before them with their unexpectedly Doors-y, Creedence-y sound. ” Rachel Watts, Dallas Observer
With their 3rd album coming out in the fall of 2014, Birds of Night are busier than they’ve ever been before. Hoping to find a way to find a new path on the well treaded ground that is rock and roll, their latest songs are filled with movement, sincerity, and emotion. They’ve supported acts like Tennis, Mac Demarco, Diarrhea Planet, Futurebirds, The Love Language, and Quilt.
