Jump Jive An' Wail
The Brian Setzer Orchestra Lyrics

Baby, baby it looks like it's gonna hail
Baby, baby it looks like it's gonna hail
You better come inside
Let me teach you how to jive and wail

You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail away!

Papa's in the icebox lookin' for a can of ale
Papa's in the icebox lookin' for a can of ale
Mama's in the backyard learning how to jive and wail

You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail away!

A woman is a woman and a man ain't nothin' but a male
A woman is a woman and a man ain't nothin' but a male
One good thing about him
He knows how to jive and wail

Jack and Jill went up the hill to get a pail
Jack and Jill went up the hill to get a pail
Jill stayed up, she wants to learn how to jive and wail

You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail away!

You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail away!

You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail
You gotta jump, jive, and then you wail away!

As you tell your kids and grandkids "Yes, there was a time that hip hop, grunge, and swing music coexisted in pop music. We're not sure what the hell was going on."

@Andrew Martinez indeed. Glad I was a part of it

@mAMA.paNDA bear the 90s was a golden age for American culture.

@Geek37 I distinctly recall having the thought around 1996 or so where I recognized how great music was at the time, and thought "gee, think how great it'll be in the future!" I couldn't give a rat's ass for new music much past 2000... Man was I wrong.

I watched Behind The Music...a lot...in the late 1990’s and they said as much in their summary episode of 1999.

All I know is we liked swing, dresses, panties, hot ladies and sexy men all at the same time as jazz. Dig it.

I wish the big band fad back in the 90's had lasted longer. These guys cooked.

@eponymousIme And that goes for whatever your favorite genre is.

@Gina H You’re right there definitely was a revival. I grew up in the NYC area and remember it like you do especially from maybe 95’ to 98’. It started before then and lasted longer, but those were the years I remember main stream music giving it a lot of radio play and such. Obviously other trends were going on at the same time R&B was massive at the time, but one thing doesn’t take away from the other. Just like you said 90s has awesome alternative and grunge music, but it takes lots of different sounds to shape a decade.
