Rhythm of the Rain
The Cascades Lyrics

Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain (ahh)
Telling me just what a fool I've been (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)
I wish that it would go and let me cry in vain (ahh)
And let me be alone again (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)

The only girl I care about has gone away (ahh)
Looking for a brand new start (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)
But little does she know that when she left that day (ahh)
Along with her she took my heart (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)

Rain please tell me now does that seem fair
For her to steal my heart away when she don't care?
I can't love another when my hearts somewhere far away (ooh)

The only girl I care about has gone away (ahh)
Looking for a brand new start (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)
But little does she know that when she left that day (ahh)
Along with her she took my heart (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)

Rain won't you tell her that I love her so
Please ask the sun to set her heart aglow
Rain in her heart and let the love we knew start to grow (ooh)

Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain (ahh)
Telling me just what a fool I've been (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)
I wish that it would go and let me cry in vain (ahh)
And let me be alone again (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)

Oh, listen to the falling rain (ahh)
Pitter patter, pitter patter (ahh)
Ooh listen, listen to the falling rain (ahh)
Pitter patter, pitter patter, ohh (ahh)
Ooh listen, listen to the falling rain (ahh)

I am 74 now, and still can't understand where time goes. In my heart, when I hear this song and others of the 60's, I'm 16 and walking in the dark along the summer beach with my girlfriend. All our friends could see were four distant white legs by the surf. The music plays and I'm 'back there in a heartbeat'.

At 13, miss those wonderful days singing at the top of our voice enjoying playing in the rain, wooosh!

I was 13 and just obsessed with the song because of the lyrics and melody, up till now the pitter patter of the raindrops make me miss those days!

I remember requesting this song when my girlfriend broke up with me, they played right away and it was raining out. I was 19 and it was 1970. I always loved this song since I heard it on my transistor radio in'63 when it came out,I heard it while I was doing my paper route and yes it was raining. I'm 71 now and I just heard it on my phone and it brought a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat after all these years. Her name was Diane.......and yes it's raining out.

As someone in their mid 20, I still say this music is a thousand times better than anything that comes out today.

there’s plenty of good music being made now, but there is no recording industry backing it like there was in the second half of the 20th century to bring it to your attention.
these days it’s up to us to find the good stuff amongst the crap, which is more difficult than ever - but it doesn’t mean there is no good music around. it just isn’t on the charts or commercial radio, because the recording industry collapsed with the internet
