Jump to: Overall Meaning | Line by Line Meaning

Dom-dom dom-dom dom-de-doo-be
Dom dom dom dom dom dom-de-doo-be
Dom dom dom dom dom dom-be-doo-be
Dom woa-woa-woa-woah

Dom-dom dom-dom dom-de-doo-be
Dom dom dom dom dom dom-de-doo-be
Dom dom dom dom dom dom-be-doo-be
Dom woa-woa-woa-woah

Well I love, love you darlin'
Come and go with me
Come home with me
Way beyond the sea
I need you darlin'
So come go with me

Come, come, come, come
Come into my heart
Tell me darlin'
We will never part
I need you darlin'
So come go with me

Yes, I need you
Yes, I really need you
Please say you'll never leave me
Well, say you never
Yes, you really never

You never give me a chance

Come, come, come, come
Come into my heart
Tell me darlin'
We will never part
I need you darlin'
So come go with me
(Yeah)

Yes, I need you
Yes, I really need you
Please say you'll never leave me
Well, say you never
Yes, you really never

You never give me a chance

Love you darlin'
Come and go with me
Come home with me
Way beyond the sea
I need you darlin'
So come go with me
Come on go with me
Come on go with me

Overall Meaning

The Del-Vikings' song "Come Go With Me" is an upbeat love song that tells the tale of a man's plea to his beloved to come away with him. The opening line of the song, "Dom-dom dom-dom dom-de-doo-be," is a memorable hook that serves to grab the listener's attention. The lyrics "Come, come, come, come/ Come into my heart/ Tell me darlin'/ We will never part" show how much the protagonist is invested in his relationship and how much he doesn't want it to end. He doesn't want to be left alone, as emphasized in the lines "Yes, I need you/ Yes, I really need you/ Please say you'll never leave me/ Well, say you never/ Yes, you really never/ You never give me a chance." This section of the song shows how vulnerable and desperate the protagonist is feeling.

The song further describes the protagonist's desire to have his love interest by his side and how much they need each other. The lyrics "Well I love, love you darlin'/ Come and go with me/ Come home with me/ Way beyond the sea/ I need you darlin'/ So come go with me" show how the protagonist is willing to go to great lengths to be with the one he loves. He wants his beloved to leave everything behind and start a new life with him, a theme which resonates with the listener.

@Mike D Cheers, my Dad was a mechanic and part of a plane crew. He often talked about “one day” becoming a pilot. Even at 80 yo he would say one day. He was a simple man but extremely friendly and very funny, very very funny. Had a ton if lifelong friends, so he didn’t have traditional riches, but was much richer than most, in friends. God bless

We need more music like this in the 2020’s

@Uncle Buns no it isnt completely. Bruno Mars is an example of soul and funk nowadays. Soul/funk music is a genre and will carry on with tweaks, just as other genres do.
