1) The Flies was a 60s British psychedelic band formed in London in 1965 best remembered for their debut single, ”(I’m Not Your) Stepping Stone”, which is a hard rock treatment with plenty of crunching fuzz guitar of a number more associated with The Monkees.
Originally known as The Rebs, and then The In-Sect, the group's line-up featured Robin Hunt (lead vocals, drums), Ian Baldwin (bass guitar), George Haywood (lead guitar), Brian Gill (lead guitar) John Da Costa (rhythm guitar, keyboards), and Peter Dunton (drums).
They were notorious for their sometimes outrageous live performances, particularly their appearance at the 14-Hour Technicolour Dream psychedelic festival in April 1967 in London, where they arranged to have hundreds of bags of flour explode and cover the audience at the end of their set.
While they disbanded by the end of 1968, members surfaced in the subsequent British psychedelic/progressive groups Infinity, Please, Bulldog Breed, and T2. In addition, while still in The Flies, singer Robin Hunt recorded a 1967 single for CBS under the pseudonym Alexander Bell.
2) The Flies was a British band fronted by Sean Cook (ex-Spiritualized; ex-Lupine Howl). Cook, who played bass with Spiritualized for eight years before forming and fronting Lupine Howl, also sessioned for Jesus and Mary Chain, Massive Attack and Dr John. During this time he got to know Bob Locke and Tim Norfolk, AKA 'The Insects', who worked with Massive Attack on their 'Protection' album (writing 'Karma Coma' and Eurochild). The band's debut album "All Too Human" was released in 2007.
3) The Flies was an 80s American band from Boston that consisted of Nat Freedberg (lead vocal, guitar), Jay Parham (bass, vocals) and Randall Gibson (drums). They had two releases on Homestead Records: Get Wise, from 1984, includes "All Hung Up," which was released as a single (and was later re-made by the Titanics); and Get Burned, a six-song EP released in 1985. They split up sometime around 1987.
4) The Flies was a 90s American punk rock/pop band from Spokane that released: Venus Man Trap 7" (Trench Records); Teen Challenge 7" (Empty Records); Alternatoid CD (Very Small Records);
5) The Flies was a 60s Australian garage rock band from Melbourne.
6) The Flies was a late-60s American band from California with frontman Larry Norman.
