This project has come into the world favour partly to Romain Gautier which grew his friend to record the songs he uses to play alone. Besides, “The friendly sadness experience” first album contains, in homage, one of the songs that has been recorded by “The goroyos” (see track “Mellow point”)…
His music essentially consist in simple guitar playing (acoustic and electric with some effects) in the pure mellow “Ballad” style (like “Belle and Sebastian”, “Mogwai”, “Anni Di Franco”, ”Vincent Gallo”, “Elliot Smith”, “Calexico”…) even if his musical influences are larger (blues, post-rock, classic and psychedelic rock…).
The purpose of his music is not to demonstrate any technical guitar playing but to transmit and share a certain vision of what music should be about: simplicity. It is accorded a primary place to the spontaneity (a song has a certain sense at a certain moment, as point out the name of the track “Built at eleven”) and especially to the beauty and the power of melody which has a central role. The first album, “Who’s wrong?”, (which in fact is just a first version of his work through a “home made” recording) perfectly transcribes this comprehension.
The simplicity of this kind of music and the (infinite?) possibility it can offer will push “The friendly sadness experience” to record more songs… Besides, the second album is being written.
