1. The Haven was an alternative rock/post-hardcore band from San Diego, California, United States.
The band released their EP Under The Bright Lights in 2007.
Bio from their Myspace:
"Frustrated with the redundancy of local San Diegan music, a 5 piece octet form what may inconceivably be a new sound influenced by the likes of Broadway musicals and dark movie scores. The Haven started as another band ended, Radio Diary. At the end of Radio Diary’s life span, no one in the band was an original member, meaning that Radio Diary’s screamo-guitar heavy sound would come to an end. They decided to play a musical game of Russian roulette and trash all of their old material and book time at one of San Diego’s top recording studios (SCM) without even having written a song. Within two months, The Haven wrote their first EP “Under The Bright Lights,” with still another month left before arriving at SCM’s glass door. The resulting EP contained many styles ranging from pop rock to a more foreboding dark rock that has barely been tapped into by other bands as you may come to realize while listening to even just the first few seconds of the album. What you may not have known is that each song contains in itself a chapter of a greater story that is being written as a supplement to the music further deepening the meaning of each song.
Soon after recording in the studio, The Haven finally had their first show booked at Soma San Diego with San Diego stars My American Heart and MTV stars Halifax. The resulting draw was overwhelming and resulted in many new friendships and more shows opening new doors that were previously unattainable.
The name “The Haven” was chosen one night when members stumbled upon an abandoned building. Its gates were rusted but intricate in detail. The sign next to it read “The Haven Restaurant and Bakery.” Curious, they walked through the gates and into the building. What they found were floors pulling them down into the ground screaming for attention while the walls pulled them apart begging to tell their story.
This is their story.
Give us an hour to fancy your craves, you’ll leave your worries behind.
Welcome to The Haven"
