(Taylor Joiner, guitars/vocals) Arriving in Nashville via Atlanta via Athens, GA. in 2004, Taylor Joiner plays guitar and sings songs of hope and sorrow.
(Joe Bidewell, keyboards/bass/harmonica) Before his return to the South, Joe lived in New York City at the Chelsea Hotel while playing the keyboards for former Velvet Underground guitarist John Cale (Joe’s the guy playing keys on the live Cale album “Sabotage”). Wanting to be closer to home, Joe moved to St. Louis before finally arriving in Nashville. In addition to fronting the Joe Bidewell Group, he can be seen around Nashville playing keys, bass, guitar, accordion, or harmonica with many of his other friends. Joe is also known as “Neighbor JB” because of his neighborly demeanor.
(Brett Rosenberg, guitars/vocals) In 2007, the Boston Globe wrote an article lamenting the fact that Brett was leaving town. Releasing several critically acclaimed albums (Drop Dead Air, Speed Metal from Montreal, Destroyer), Brett also played guitar for British pub rocker Graham Parker, as well as Liv Tyler’s mom, Bebe Buell (ask him about it) making a name for himself as one of the top players around. Looking for his next musical challenge, Brett packed up and moved to Nashville in 2007 where we came across him playing solo electric guitar and telling stories about librarians (ask him about that one too). We quickly made friends and before long were playing together. Brett recently released the wonderful Born Twice where the Joiners were fortunate enough to back him up on the track “Taken.”
(Andy Willhite, bass/vocals) Originally moving to Nashville to follow his second love of mechanical engineering, Andy claims he had no intention of getting involved in the Nashville music scene. A PhD candidate at Vanderbilt University, he is the true Renaissance man among The Joiners. In addition to his studies, he also plays guitar for local sensations Hands Down Eugene as well as bass for the critically acclaimed Carter Administration. Andy also operates Safe and Sound Studios out of his house, which just happens to be where the Joiners recorded their first LP, Olives and Oil.
(Rachel Joiner, drums/vocals) Accustomed more to writing about bands, Rachel never dreamed of playing the drums until one night it was suggested she give it a shot while some friends were practicing in their basement. She got the job. Fortunately, I was one of those friends. Having spent years looking for the right drummer, as soon as I heard her play, I knew I had found the one. Not only can she play, she sings perfect harmony all the while keeping the beat steady as a rock. Though still pursuing her love of writing, Rachel is proof of something I’ve always thought about drummers…they either have it or they don’t, right from the start, and she did.
