The Devil's Takin' Names
The Lawrence Arms Lyrics

Shall we dance?
Or maybe just limp around?
These feet are cold and beat, and strangers
To the ground.

The sound of the kick is arousing.
The couples are sweet in their love.
Tonight, we'll stagger up from the basement
Or fall to our deaths from above.
You've got those moves and those eyes
I've got these shakes and bad breath.

I've never tried that, but I know
I don't like it.
Or, maybe I do I'm just too weak to
Fight it. Where are you? I hate
To let em see me crying.

I'm gonna zip on my party suit
And show y'all something:
There ain't no such thing as strumpin'
For nothing
You can fly with us or hang on to the
Walls but the devil's takin' names
When the last curtain falls

I got a deep sick worry and I don't know
Where are you? what are you doing tonight?
Laughing and crying are almost the same
They just show everyone how much
Attention you're paying
So dry them eyes
Everyone else went back inside

Most underrated band

I know right, they are an awesome punk rock band

They deserve to be much bigger. Glad I found them by accident.

My friend. I've been a Lawrence Arms fan since 2001. They deserve to be bigger. But they don't want it or care about fame. Their stories about being on tour with bands like Yellowcard are hilarious.

A quick story. In about 2002, I saw them in D.C. at Nation, which was a tremendously great venue in southeast. Back then, it was a really rough neighborhood. But my favorite venue.

I then flew "home" to Atlanta to see them there. I went up to Brendan to try to espouse how important they were to me. I felt like they were giving me a voice. I said "Bren, I just saw you guys in D.C."

He said "Oh really? Then you decided to come down here to see us again? You're a tremendous idiot. No one does that. Want a beer?"

He gave me a hug.

I laughed and cried at the same time.
That's who they are. That's what their music is about. Laughing and crying...almost the same. They just show everyone how much attention you're payin!

You guys were awesome last night! I never heard of you guys before, but it was a damn good first impression. I'm a fan!

I love their comedic view of punk rock. You know they all have a blast together. I remember the interview they had together saying it would be more of a pain in the ass to break up so that's why they stay together. I remember going to fire side to see slapsticks last show. And then seeing Lawrence taking the stage you could see how much more passionate and free Brendan was.with his music. Like a weight was lifted off his shoulders and had no restrictions anymore

Very much like "the living end"..
