Superior Mold and Die marks either the 3rd or 4th album since LOE's formation in 2000 depending on if you count the numerous splits and EPs released over the past 5 years. Burg's latest effort is a seamless mix of original acoustic folk songs and his signature looped and layered pop soundscapes.
Love of Everything's formula of raw grown-up lyrics with childlike toy keyboard and nursery rhyme rhythms remains intact and this collection of songs works hard to develop the experimental themes presented in past releases. Fans will recognize many of these songs from his unforgettable live solo shows where he builds a wall of sound with simple instruments and a looping pedal until he finally starts singing, hushing audiences with the initial surprise of words after the lengthy process of creating the sound of a full band.
With five years, a 16-country tour, and numerous incarnations under his belt (including a plethora of musicians from the avant-garde music scene including members of Storm & Stress, Pinebender, Mirah, Rainer Maria, Euphone, Joan of Arc, Make Believe, Cex, Owen, and Shellac, both live and on record), Love of Everything has evolved as a true expression of Burg's emotional life, sweetly haunting and complex in it's simplicity.
