The Noble Truths, fully formed in early 2010, are a difficult band to categorize. Think fuzzy, gritty garage rock. Now think bass-pumping indie power pop. Now think of big-riff blues. NOW think of smooth sixties melodic folk-rock. If you’re thinking of all that, you’ve only scratched the surface. From most bands, this kind of flagrant disregard for the “proper” rules of genre conventions would lead to a big mess; but The Noble Truths make it work.
Not only do they blend countless styles into a surprisingly consistent sound, instantly identifiable by the combined and alternating vocals of Nick Pascuzzi and Brendan Teskey, but they have fun doing it. And you’ll have fun listening. And you’ll definitely want to hear more.
"At a time when bands stick to one genre, The Noble Truths cover a diverse palate, swinging from vintage garage rock and groove-oriented funk to power pop. But underlying all this seems to be a 60's era spirit, laying it down with an energy and swagger of what it's like to jam in basements anywhere, anytime, for the sheer joy of just performing." - The Lonely Vagabond
"Heavily influenced by the freedom of the 60’s counter-culture, the Noble Truths present familiar sounds through a prism of the Stones swagger coupled with Britpop bands’ keen ear for sharp melodies. The Noble Truths come to you in a time and a decade that seems to lack an identity, with false idols and disposable musical cliches. Perhaps the band’s time is now." - Raza Husain
Band History:
Members Nick Pascuzzi and Brendan Teskey started The Noble Truths, in an effort to blend the sounds of their biggest influences (The Beatles, Sloan, Oasis, Bob Dylan, the Kinks, The Doors and many many others) with new ideas they were eager to experiment with.
Recruiting friend and drummer Chandler Nicol, in the summer of 2007, TNT began playing sparse shows, building a solid roster of covers and working tirelessly on original material. The band carried on without a bass player until that role was eventually filled by Brendan Teskey. Shortly after, high school friend, Alexsei Arizaga-Borda, joined the group on lead guitar. Chandler's eventual departure did little to deter the band, as shortly after, TNT gained drummer Alex Metcalfe as well as a producer, Vinay Dhalla for a short period in late 2008 - mid 09. They recorded their first studio demo tracks which they used as a way to get their foot in the door for local venues in the GTA.
In late 2009, drummer Alex Metcalfe eventually left the band. However, they still continued to play shows, record demos and harness their sound and repertoire. Until one fated day in January 2010, they added a new guitarist/producer, Neil Shukla. Shukla was the spice TNT needed, for he added a new kind of motivation and funky indie-rock style. Original material flowed consistently and the boys had finally found their desired groove. Occasional drummer - Pete Barnes, helped record drum tracks on the first demo-EP, "Makeshift", and played live sets with TNT, but did not stay on as a permanent member.
Summer of 2010, they released their first demo-EP entitled "Makeshift". Consists of five tracks: "Flying High", "Your Time Is At An End", "Anyone But Me", "Book of Fate", "Hero's Lament", and a sixth bonus live-acoustic track, "The Story Collector (Deck Sessions Live)".
In August 2011, The Noble Truths released their self-titled EP, featuring five tracks: "Running With Scissors", "Right Of Way", "Pop Culture Junkie", "Mind Of Sin", and "Wanted Man".
