Without a doubt! She has a beautiful voice and to this 18 year old Marine at war and far from family and friends she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Telling this now it seem so immature and childish on my part. However, she helped this skinny kid from Oklahoma survive in a war where I saw things and did things no 18 year old should ever have to deal with.

@Orion 77 yup, just have to turn off the radio where an executive somewhere chooses your music purely as a safe business decision. Music is as good as ever, we just lost the DJs. I have 13 stations, 11 are owned by "Galaxy Communications" and the other 2 are classical and NPR. Most of the stations have weekly catalogs that could fit on an index card. The musicians are all still out there, but it takes a miracle to get exposure.

I was a member of the Jan and Dean band in 1967. We were playing a European tour and had done a television show in London at the BBC called ready steady go. The seekers were also on the same bill. They had introduced a song called “they’ll never be another you” our manager at the time was later the president of Sony many years later in fact. When he listened to the rendition of I know they’ll never be another you he mentioned that we had just heard a record that will never die! He said This particular song and the way this girl singer put her heart into every line will be around and popular when we are all gone because songs like this never die they never age and they just get better with time. He said boys you have just heard the birth of a classic! He later managed and developed Michael Jackson and for a time was married to Mariah Carey. And he was absolutely right. Just like everybody else back then the seekers had most of their money stolen or Swindled from them. But you can ever take away the beautiful majestic talent regardless of how much money you steel

I have been conscious of THE SEEKERS since I was a young teen in the early 60's. But until three weeks ago, I did not even know their individual names. About a year before my Uncle Robert passed away, we were discussing his Vietnam experience. I asked him when did he know or feel he was safe again. He said it was on the flight back to the “World” just as they exited Vietnamese air space and this song was being played over the plane’s intercom. He was a Georgia boy born, bred, and raised!

In 1969 I was a 19 year old Marine Sergeant. I was thousands of miles from home and in harms way. My girlfriend had sent me a “Dear John” informing me she was getting married and not to write or call her anymore. I was listening to Armed Forces Radio and the Seekers “GEORGIE GIRL” was playing on the radio. I found a picture of the young lady who was the lead singer for the Seekers. I fell instantly in love with her. I promised myself if I made it through the war I was going to marry her.🤣 Well, that didn’t happen but that fantasy helped me get through what seemed like and eternity in Vietnam. GREAT MEMORIES!

I was born in August of 1965. It is curious how many songs and artists that were popular during my birth year I naturally admire and have an emotional attachment to. It may be happenstance as those born in 1976 or 1992 etc. are born in years where popular music peaked in quality. Who could not fall for Judith Durham? Even now, 50 years on, she's still quite lovely and that magnificent voice is still solid. Listen to them from Australian TV recently and marvel at them.

I met Aussie gals back in the 80's when I was in the Navy... They are the Coolest! Judith has the voice of an Angel and will always be one of my favorite singers!

I clearly remember this playing from a neighbour's radio in 1967/8 when I was 4, walking down the street with my mum hand in hand. It seems such a magical time to me now.

Oh wow, that's the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. From memory, they were the first Australian group to have a number 1 single in the UK. Only solo artists had achieved that before. Everyone looks so well dressed and respectable. I was truly born in the wrong era.

When I first heard I'll Never Find Another You, I thought Judith Durham was two singers. Her voice is so clear and strong, I get chills every time I hear her sing it. When they were starting out The Seekers played at a big concert in England where all the big names, including the Beatles, were going to be performing. According to the story, John Lennon approached them, saying, "You're a nice little band, but you know they're all here to hear us." The Seekers were, I believe, are the only group to have a #1 song in Australia, England, and the US simultaneously. But then you have to remember that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus.

I can't believe its been 50 years since this first came out in 1967. And now that I'm 63 years old. This song still sounds as fresh to me now as it did back then when I was a 13 year old boy. They are one of the reasons why I consider the music of the 60's as the greatest music in Rock & Roll history.
Note: They made a movie about this song after it went platinum. Priceless!

One of the great things about the Beatles, was they made international talent desirable. Before them it was all this rockabilly characters, like Buddy and Elvis, or it was polished African American stuff, Smokey Robinson etc. The Beatles made the Seekers and lots of other acts’ chances of breaking the American and world market a lot easier.

This is the greatest musical decade that ever happened on this planet. In my lifetime there will never be music of this level of greatness. It puts me in a euphoric state. It is my favorite genre and I will cherish it for the rest of my life.

I agree 100%! the best thing I remember from the 60's was the "Peanuts" comic strips & the "Beatles." the music was incredible! the melodies were the best I've ever heard. amazing how in 1996, "That Thing You Do" completely nailed the early British invasion sound, led by the "Fab 4"

@Sam Decaro I think it is a matter of soul.
Today's musicians are so world weary, and so self-aware of the music they are making, that it is contrived and synthetic, and only sometimes incidentally reaches a point of significance.
Back then, in a sense, they were singing for their lives, for humanity, for society. In the same way that poets pre-1970 addressed reality on a deep level, so did musicians.
Now they are poeting, and singing for a more synthetic construct, levels removed from core truths, and it shows in the performances and in the art.

I remember when this song came out, I was only about 4 1/2 years old at the time but Mom loved it so much I heard it 2 to 3 times a day for a while. Great memories.

She has a beautiful voice. She has a very beautiful voice. One of my favorite female voices ever. Pure. Innocent. Full of life. She is also extremely pretty! I don't think she ever looked better than on this day in that gorgeous dress. For 2 minutes and 36 seconds, everything was right in the world.

@SteamlocoScrapper Looks to be on the boards of a lot of charities nowadays, they all get paid and generally only 20% of most charities funds finds its way to the people in need.Its what the elites do, he would have made a lot of good connections in Politics and Banking circles. They all look after each other. Might be a decent bloke but generally they are not.
