They were signed by John Peel’s label Dandelion (where Kevin Coyne and Medicine Head also recorded) after their demo tape had impressed him; not believing this was only a duo. The album was recorded in two days and named after Clayton’s girlfriend. After goods critics, but weak sales, they changed their name to TRACTOR and recorded a second album rumoured to have sold in quantities but success still eluded them and the Dandelion label folded afterwards. The duo soldiered on for another three years under one form or another releasing another few singles until 77, but they reformed now and again in the following decades. Although their Tractor album will not be included on the Archives for they are of little interest for progheads, their debut album The Way We Live is definitely a charming fusion of Indian-laced psychedelic folk and hard rock.
