Song to the Siren
This Mortal Coil Lyrics

Long afloat on shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
'Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle
And you sang
Sail to me
Sail to me
Let me enfold you
Here I am
Here I am
Waiting to hold you

Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you here when I was forced out
Now my foolish boat is leaning
Broken lovelorn on your rocks
For you sing, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow
Oh my heart, Oh my heart shies from the sorrow"

Well I'm as puzzled as the newborn child
I'm as riddled as the tide
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Or should I lie with death, my bride?
Hear me sing, "Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you
Here I am, here I am, waiting to hold you"

Lovely choice. We played this at my brother's funeral too. He selected it before he died

I lost my mother long ago.
There are no words that make it better.
She was and is your mother.
She was as lucky to have you as you were her.

Your last acts proved that.

God speed, little sister.

Your message has just reduced me to tears! What a beautiful song to play at a funeral. I lost my sister to cancer in December 2022. She was 69. May they both rest in peace. 🙏🌹❤

I first heard this song in 2011. I was deep into heroin addiction and had been up for days in horrible withdrawal really trying with everything inside me to kick the heroin. At that time, in the middle of the night, at my absolute lowest point with my mind and body ravaged from the agony of withdrawal and ready to just die and have some relief I stumbled across this youtube video with this angelic song and for a moment I had the relief I was longing for. It's really strange and hard to explain but this song touched my soul in a way I'll never forget, other songs can do something similar but this song at that moment was almost like a religious experience. Today I am six years free from heroin and I come back here from time to time to re-live that moment.
