Written and produced by Funky DL and with co-writes from and featuring the vocal talents of Sienna.
The album is poised with eclectic sounds and organic grooves. The talents of jazz pianist Chris Wilson and flamenco guitarist Georgio Serci were enlisted for the album and it certainly paid off as the sound that was forged was absolutely and remarkably gorgeous! What made the album work so well was that nothing was tried too hard but there was no lack of effort as the music is very intricately produced and mixed and the vocal arrangements range from unorthodox to precisely executed perfections.
Sienna & Funky met way back in 1982 when they started primary school and remained in the same class for many years in London. They then parted company when they started their secondary education but reunited when DL got in touch with Sienna to appear on his debut album Classic Was The Day of which she vocalised on the classic joints "Soul Silhouette & Circles." Sienna guest appeared on many of Funky DL's albums before the two collaborated in 1999 to start work on a some solo material for Sienna.
The two fused ideas for the next four years and finally in 2003 For the Love of Jazz and Thursdays was born. The album was hugely revered overseas and catapulted Thursdays Love into a zone of compelling respect and admiration for their excellence and standard of work. Then came the release of Thursdays Diary, which was the material which could not make the album (not because of any lacking standards but because the album already housed 20 tracks!!) and new material which was recorded after the release of the debut album. This CD was also very well received and is now scarcely available due to re-order upon re-order from distributors.
The 3rd release Thursdays Quest is a homage to the legendary A Tribe Called Quest, where original Thursdays Love vocals have been placed over remakes of classic ATCQ beats from their various albums. Again this album has such excitement about it which is so heavily deserved. Look out for all the Thursdays Love titles as they are all (without a shadow of doubt) audio gold dust!!!
