The Criers are an award-winning male a cappella group that prides itself on onstage charisma and energy, driven by a tight bond. At the 2010 New England Semi-Final of the International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA), TC took home 2nd runner up and the award for Outstanding Arrangement for Maino's "All the Above". After competing in the ICHSA wild card round, they came in first place out of twelve groups from across the country, allowing them to compete in the ICHSA National Finals in New York in April 2010. There they were ranked third in the nation among all high school groups, and first among student-lead groups, all-male groups, and New England groups. They also received awards for "Outstanding Choreography" for their entire set, and Nolan Neu received recognition as an "Outstanding Soloist" for "All the Above. Additionally, they have been featured on a cappella podcasts such as "Mouth Off" and "Acapodcast".
The group currently has three albums available: Revived (2008), Stimulus Package (2009), and Come Alive (2010). All three are available for download on iTunes and Amazon and can also be purchased as a hard copy. All songs in the TC repertoire are arranged collaboratively, by ear, and with zero use of sheet music.
The Criers' most recent album, Come Alive, was released September 9th, 2010, to critical acclaim. The opening track, Let It Rock, was included in the 2011 Best of High School A cappella compilation. Additionally, it was nominated for the Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards in all three high school categories: Best High School Album, Best High School Song for All the Above, and Best High School Soloist for Nolan Neu in Feelin' Good.
The Town Criers have performed with many of today's top scholastic groups, including MIT Logarhythms, Brandeis Voicemale, Tufts Amalgamates, Berklee Pitch Slapped, Brown Jabberwocks, the SoCal Vocals, Northwestern Purple Haze, U of Oregon Divisi, Marblehead Jewel Tones, Marblehead Luminescence, as well as professional groups Overboard, Duwende, Five O'Clock Shadow, and Mister Tim, among many others. They have performed all across the greater Boston area, including performances at venue such as Wellesley HS, Concord-Carlisle Regional HS, Winchester Town Hall, Marblehead HS, and the Massachusetts State House, as well as in New York's New York Society for Ethical Culture and the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
