1) an American alternative rock band formed in late 1995 in Los Angeles
2) a Dutch pop band from the late 1970s
2) Transister was an American alternative rock band, formed in late 1995 in Los Angeles, by music industry veterans from both the United States and the United Kingdom. Despite only releasing one album (in 1997) to moderate sales, their work has been featured on a number of film soundtracks. The band is fronted by Keely Hawkes (the sister of Chesney Hawkes and daughter of Len 'Chip' Hawkes) and features King L perpetrators Gary Clark and Eric Pressley. Their style is more 90s than King L's "Great Day for Gravity" but with the same sense of rock and roll without a lot of fuss. The video for their single "Look Who's Perfect Now" remains an excellent example of the mini-movie potential many music videos miss entirely. The song was their only foray into the UK Singles Chart where it peaked at No. 56 in May 1998. After that members of the band went on to other projects.
2. Transister was a Dutch pop band with Robert Jan Stips (Nits, Supersister, Golden earring), Huba de Graaff, Dick Schulte Nordholt, Henk Wijtman. They produced at least one album, Zig-zag in 1979.
