Yoke Lore Lyrics
I don't wanna see you smile
I want you in the morning
Before you go performing
Tell me something I don't know
And lead me to the place where no one ever goes
Let me go under your skin
Let me find the demons that drive those heavenly limbs
You know you're beautiful
But that ain't half the gold treasure in your soul what you got 'cause I want it all
With your fingers in my mouth, I fail to see your faults
So please don't let me fall
So please don't let me fall
And I think we'd survive in the wild
We would eat plants and roots and dream about electric fans
Baby, could you kill a man?
Could you look in his eyes and feel the fire drain out of his hands?
Baby do you think about the past?
Do you wonder if every stupid little thing has led us to this
You know you're beautiful
But that ain't half the gold treasure in your soul what you got 'cause I want it all
With your fingers in my mouth, I fail to see your faults
So please don't let me fall
So please don't let me fall
You know you're beautiful (you're beautiful)
But that ain't half the gold treasure in your soul what you got 'cause I want it all (want it all)
With your fingers in my mouth, I fail to see your faults
So please don't let me fall
So please don't let me fall
Don't let me fall
Don't let me fall
Don't let me fall
Don't let me fall
Don't let me fall
Don't let me fall
Don't let me fall
Don't let me fall

"Thus says The Messiah who is called Christ, The Holy One of Israel: I am The Lamb of God without spot or blemish, the blood which was shed and placed upon the doorposts,[1] delivering My people from the power of sin,[2] which is death.[3] I am The Passover.[4]
For as it is written in The Law, all things must be purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there can be no remission.[5] Thus no one goes to The Father, unless they receive of Me. Unless they eat My flesh and drink My blood, they have no life in them. For whosoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has everlasting life, and I will raise them up at the Last Day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. Thus all who eat My flesh and drink My blood live in Me, and I in them.
I am The Living Bread which came down from Heaven! If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever! And the bread that I gave was My flesh, which was given for the life of the world. This I have already told you.[6] Therefore keep the Passover in remembrance of Me and My Passion, according to The New Covenant.[7] For it is accomplished, and was sealed forevermore upon My resurrection. For The Lamb was slain, My people redeemed in all the earth; and behold, I am risen, crowned with glory and honor, forever and ever.[8] Amen."

I don't wanna see you smile
I want you in the morning
Before you go performing
.
.
(The first lines are about wanting to know the more messy parts of someone. I want to see what you look like before you get all made up and ready,
before you have to smile for the camera and put it on for people. Give me the real stuff.)
Tell me something I don't know and lead me to the place where no one ever goes
Let me go under your skin, and let me find the demons that drive those heavenly limbs
.
.
(βTell me something I donβt knowβ is something my mom used to say to me growing up. She loves the gossip. I think itβs a sign of love to be blatantly curious about anything someone has to say. Tell me something and Iβll learn something important because all things between us are important.)
(And give me the ghost in the machine. Iβm a sci-fi nerd steeped in a long religious education. Thereβs lots of biblical or spiritual imagery in my music, I think both because in worship I first felt something really heavy through music, but also through reading religious texts, you really get a handle on the language of devotion. Which is the language of love. If I were to pull out some passages from The Qur'an or some of the Christian mystics, I could pass them off as love poems of the highest caliber.)
You know you're beautiful
But that ain't half the gold treasure in your soul
What you got cause I want it all
With your fingers in my mouth I fail to see your faults so please don't let me fall, please don't let me fall
.
.
(Everyone can see youβre beautiful, but I want what everyone canβt see.
But I get hypnotized by our love and lose a bit of control, so while you have me vulnerable, please donβt hurt me.)
I think weβd survive in the wild
We would eat plants and roots and dream about electric fans
But baby could you kill a man, could you look in his eyes and feel the fire drain out of his hands
And baby do you think about the past, do you wonder if every stupid little thing has led us to this
.
.
(We could do anything together. We could do anything to help each other survive, even the extreme of dying for each other because everything weβve done in our lives has led us to one another. Love can feel like that, a coming together of seemingly unrelated circumstances and seemingly unnecessarily circuitous routes through life.)
