Youth Lagoon Lyrics

Roaming the campground up by the lake where we swam
We were hunting for snakes
But we couldn't find them
Surrounded by nothing But the nothing's surrounded by us
But it's just me in my room
With my eyes shut

Oh, when I was seventeen
My mother said to me
"Don't stop imagining, the day that you do is the day that you die"
Now I pull a one-ton carriage
Instead of the horses grazing the lawn
And I was having fun
We were all having fun

My brain can think faster than I can I'm not fast enough
Who is there to talk to That won't lock me up?
At least God doesn't judge me by the thoughts that aren't mine
The snakes I couldn't find
I don't want to find

Oh oh oh
Oh when I was seventeen my mother said to me
"Don't stop imagining, the day that you do is the day that you die"
Now I pull a one-ton carriage
Instead of the horses grazing the lawn
And I was having fun
We were all having fun

Oh, when I was seventeen
My mother said to me
"Don't stop imagining, the day that you do is the day that you die"
Now I pull a one-ton carriage
Instead of the horses grazing the lawn
And I was having fun
We were all having fun

4 years ago, my brother shared this song on facebook. Months after he passed away, just 17 years old, due to nerve-cancer. Now i'm here 4 years later, 17 years old myself. Filled with tears, this song is so beautiful and depressing.

Everyone lives 2 lives and the second begins when one realizes there is only one.

This song reminds me of the pains of adolescence. While everyone your age is out having a fun time, you spend most of your time alone because everyone is so out of reach and sometimes dreams is all you got. I've cried to this song many times at night because it's pretty much an anthem to my teen years. Lonely and painful. I hate high school.

Trust me. You don't want to give up now, you've already come this far. ❤️
