He started playing the piano at the age of nine, fell in love with the instrument and made quick progress. In 2006, his entry for the Dutch NBE children's composition contest brought him on the stage of the Koorenhuis in The Hague, occasioning his first appearance for a large audience. Soon after, a blues and boogie-workshop by local piano wizard DirkJan Vennik roused his interest in American music and he began experimenting with jazz and blues, trying to find out the harmonies and rhythms of established material and making his own compositions in this idiom. In 2008, during his first year at high school, his music teacher asked Amos to write a composition for the musical 'Lelijk', an adaptation of the ugly ducklin story. It stirred him to write 'Lelijk Ontmoet Kikker', a loungy song in 6/8 - 7/8 rhythm. With this song he won the 'diplome d'honneur' at the Prinses Christina Composition Concours in March 2009. In August 2009 Amos went to Poderino Recording Studio in Casale Marittimo, Italy, to record his first album of compositions, adaptations and improvisations. He can be heard playing regularly at local parties."
