OP: Questioning how to break laws of physics to fit Fred's compliance.
Fred: You have lost your human right.

I was a very young mother and took a job at McDonald's to help support my family. This was 40+ years ago. The same man owned all the stores within 75 miles. My dad was an electrician and the owner thought so much of him that he only used my Dad's union so dad ran every job from start to opening. I started at the newly opened store when I was 2 months pregnant with my second child. Our manager was a 19yo idiot. He would do things like make the women and only women get on our hands and knees and clean carts, tiles, anything he chose with toothbrushes. The store was blowing a certain fuse repeatedly so my dad stopped in to check on it. The manager first off treated my 6'4" father like scum staff, second had me cleaning under counters with a cup of hot water and a toothbrush. I caught my Dad's eye and begged him not to say anything because we really needed the money. My mom called me in the morning and I told her everything that had been happening. She asked when I was working again and hung up. I was terrified my Dad would do something and my life would be even worse. The next shift I worked he was on a tear screaming at us, calling us names and of course the cleaning jobs. I was once again on my knees cleaning and I heard a familiar voice ask what us ladies were doing! I looked up and saw the owner of all of the stores...he had known me since I was 10 and thought of all of us as family. The manager started on a tirade about lazy broads and how he dealt with them......The owner slid his business card across the counter and it took the manager several moments before the name registered as the one on his paycheck s. Within 30 minutes all of us "broads" were enjoying a free meal while our favorite jerk was on the floor with his cup of toothbrushes and a cup of hot water cleaning wheels on carts. The fallout was huge! All managers went to extensive training and the owner would show up at random pull any employee of his choice and find out what needed attention at their store and what worked well. He offered each of us broads training to become store managers. As for the jerk...my dad and 3 brothers talked to him. I moved away and never saw him again.

This story made me happy. Usually the stupid jerks get away with this behaviour. Well done to the franchise owner. That took a hefty time and finance cost, I'm sure, to do the decent thing.

Your Dad and Franchise owner rock.
