The band held their first one-man live at Mito LIGHT HOUSE on November 16, 2018. Within less than a year of their formation, they achieved great success by selling out the one-man show.
Their first mini album "Arms." was released on March 6, 2019 whle they were still students as they were born in 2001. The mini-album secured numerous appearances at major events and tie-ups. In April 2019, the song "Irony" reached the top spot in the weekly USEN HIT Indies Ranking.
They held their first tour in June 2019, the "Arms Release Gurguru Kanto Tour," with performances at 10 venues mainly in Kanto.
In March 2020, they released their second mini album, "Zero Drama." However, the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of their tours and member departures, resulting in a challenging period with limited activities. Nonetheless, vocalist Hirayama's determination to continue goomiey's activities led to the release of the single "Wan Sensu" in July 2021. Despite adversity, their momentum remained strong, with TV tie-ups and participation in large-scale events, maintaining a high level of attention and activity.
After facing the challenges of the pandemic, Iwahori and Okubo decided to leave the band in March of 2021. Vocalist Hirayama continued the project on her own.
Then, on March 30, 2023, goomiey announced the official addition of bassist Akari Kamata (鎌田あかり) and drummer Ori (おり), who had been providing support for a while. With this, a new chapter for goomiey has begun.
The debut work of this rejuvenated goomiey, titled "Unmei" (Destiny), was released on March 31, 2023. According to Hirayama, the song aims to return the sentiment of "Thank you for continuing to call me" since the most heard phrase in the past two years has been "Thank you for continuing." The song is filled with the feelings accumulated by Hirayama during these two years. The flowing bass by Kamata and the heartfelt drumming by Ori support Hirayama's innate vocal prowess, showcasing a new form of goomiey.
