He started his on and off affair with music by joining a Blues band that called themselves "The Mean Harpoon" at the age of seventeen.
James took his singing influences from the old greats, honeing down his style in the dives and backroom bars of Portugal. Excessive whiskey drinking and ciggerettes, gave him the sound he was looking for. Now his voice has been compared on numerous occassions to the likes of Richie Havens, Tom Waits, Joe Cocker, Paul Weller, Howling Wolf and many other gravel voiced songsmiths but it has it’s own unique tone when blended with his acoustic songwriting style and soulfull storytelling narative. Over the years his guitar playing and musical composition has matured to match his voice.
The Singer / Songwriter currently resides on the West Coast of England and has gained a reputation as a prolific songwriter and occassional live performer, who sometimes performs up to four hour gigs if he and the audience are in the mood. He is just beginning to release his material to the outside world.
