The band gained recognition through their first single, "Weatherman," and various concerts performed alongside Böhse Onkelz. Sub7even was formed in 1999 by former Rage members Christian Wolff, Sven Fischer, Spiros Efthimiadis, Christos Efthimiadis, and the regionally known singer Daniel Wirtz. Later that year, the band was signed by the record label BMG. In 2000, Sub7even released their self-titled album, along with the accompanying single "Weatherman," which became a nationwide success, reaching number 38 on the Media Control Charts. In December of that year, the band made a guest appearance on the soap opera "Verbotene Liebe" (Forbidden Love).
In 2001, Sub7even began performing for larger audiences, including events like Rock am Ring, SWR3-Open-Air, and as the opening act for the Böhsen Onkelz at their "Gegen-den-Hass-Benefizkonzert" (Against Hatred Benefit Concert), where proceeds were donated to victims of right-wing extremist violence. That same year, they also released another album titled "Wicked."
At the beginning of 2002, they released the single "Free Your Mind," featuring En Vogue, followed by the release of the album of the same name in mid-year, which debuted at number 50 on the Media Control Charts. In November 2002, the band parted ways with BMG. During the summer of 2002, Sub7even supported Böhse Onkelz on their entire indoor tour. They performed "Nur wenn ich besoffen bin" (Only When I'm Drunk) with the Onkelz at the Dortmund concert.
In early 2003, Sven Fischer and Christian Wolff left the band to pursue their own paths. Initially, the missing musicians were replaced by bassist Rob Protzmann for live performances, but eventually, bassist Kai Lemke joined the band permanently. Christian Wolff currently works as a producer in his own studio in East Frisia and has collaborated with artists such as Exilia, Within Temptation, and 4Lyn.
In October 2004, Sub7even performed as the second opening act at the two Dortmund concerts of the Böhsen Onkelz. Since mid-November, the band was back in the studio recording their album "Love Chains n Rockets." The new album was produced by Stephan Weidner, the bassist of Böhse Onkelz.
In June 2005, Sub7even performed in front of their largest audience to date, with 120,000 people at the Böhse Onkelz farewell festival, "Vaya con Tioz."
However, the collaboration with Stephan Weidner and the appearances as the support band for the Böhsen Onkelz also brought disadvantages for the band, both in the media and from event organizers.
On May 26, 2006, after some delays, their album "Love Chains n Rockets" was released as their first album under the new label 3R by Stephan Weidner. The band presented a completely new image on this studio album, undergoing a radical transformation. Following the departure of keyboardist Chris Wolff, the use of atmospheric sounds was largely abandoned, resulting in a more liberated rock sound.
At the end of 2007, Kai Lemke left the band for "personal reasons." In 2008, PogoTS took his place on stage.
In March 2008, Wirtz released his first album, "11 Zeugen," which was sung in German, unlike his previous work with Sub7even. Initially, only the single "Ne Weile Her" was released from the album. In November 2008, the single "Keine Angst" was released. In 2009, his second album, "Erdling," was released, reaching number 44 on the German album charts. In 2011, his third album, "Akustik Voodoo," was released, which reached number 5 on the German album charts.
