The Curse
Agnes Obel Lyrics
And the people went into their hide, they oh
From the start they didn't know exactly why, why
Winter came and made it so all look alike, look alike
Underneath the grass would grow, aiming at the sky
It was swift, it was just, another wave of a miracle
But no one, nothing at all would go for the kill
If they called on every soul in the land, on the moon
Only then would they know a blessing in disguise
The curse ruled from the underground down by the shore
And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before
The curse ruled from the underground down by the shore
And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before
Tell me now of the very souls that look alike, look alike
Do you know the stranglehold covering their eyes?
If I call on every soul in the land, on the moon
Tell me if I'll ever know a blessing in disguise
The curse ruled from the underground down by the shore
And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before
And the curse ruled from the underground down by the shore
And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before

This song reminds me of majestic wolves walking in the night, their breathing causes the wind to howl, the forest fall silent. Only their paw prints are a clue that they exist, the forest is asleep, eternally. Their presence blinds your breathing as you watch them step through the forest. Their eyes dart around, waiting for something. They continue to walk.
A raven fly across the sky, a silent messenger of peace.
The wolves presence bring silence.
The trees were so shocked they lost their leaves.
The birds all flew away, all except the raven.
All the wildlife were gone.
The plants were all that was left.
The wolves trip over a skull of a dead elk.
The wildlife didn’t leave, they all died.
It was a enteral graveyard of bones
and rotting animals.
They were all gone.
The wolves and the one raven were death’s hope seekers, hoping to escape their terrible fate, and not to end up like these other animals.
They are associated with death quite often.
An object catches their eyes.
A dark red rose.
This is what the wolves were looking for, something alive and breathing. They were looking for that small shard of hope.
Hope in this empty world.
Full of gloom.
Full of peril.
Not to mention, death.
They were able to find the hope, buried deep in the forest.
The moon was the only light in the world.
It was very dim.
The raven cawed.
The moon seemed to fall asleep, as it faded from the sky.
The light never faded.
I wanted to write this to give a gothic, whimsical feel, yet a beautiful touch.

Agnes Obel should have a long and interesting career ahead of her. Love her music!
Tahina
She's already 40 but I agree !! If she takes care of her voice, she will, her creativity is off the charts !!
Sarah Tichinel
The cello, the violin, the voice...they tried to make a song but messed up and made absolute art.

It's a viola. Common mistake. Don't sweat it.

Essa música é maravilhosa, tem uma composição de vozes e sons perfeitos, combinando todos os tempos de suspense; como sempre, uma obra prima..
