However, in this case, the person is simply sealing their own fate.

The next few lines speak of being cased in forests of black steel rod, which again paints a vivid picture of being trapped or encased in something. The vines of nerve floating downstream could be a metaphor for the spread of fear, anxiety, or even guilt. The sections of horror mentioned in the lyrics could refer to the different parts of one's life that are filled with regret or pain. The song then takes a darker turn with the line "This is something you must never do again," implying that the singer has committed some sort of grave mistake that cannot be undone.

The latter half of the song speaks of confession and punishment, with the singer confessing their disease to someone else and handing over control.
