For those who dont know Mario and Joe, the two brothers in the band had a mother that died during the making of this album.Thats why this is kind of a melodic album but this song specifically they wanted to just play what came to them.This song is improvised, they just played what they felt so sorry, its not up to your standards.
@andrewteichroeb8886

For me, the strangest thing about this song is that they've built an entire studio to use as their own leisure and it sounds like it is recorded in a bathroom. It sounds OK to me, but the quality of the recording is just poor. Mandragore is a ton times better considering this.

I'd like to think that 'Lowlands" and "Liberation" is a conceptual pt 1 & 2 song for their mother
@hocuspocus3256
You are correct. So is Art of Dying and various other tracks in more recent albums, since their mother was ill and then died.
@WagnerWarner
@@hocuspocus3256 Just discovered the bands and saw that this album is about their mother death. You're right but you can even go deeper. I think the whole album is themed on the stages of grief & loss. Here we are in the stage of acceptance. I didn't really liked the album so I don't want to listen to it again but with that in mind you'll probably confirms that theory.

I love this - has a very Indian kind of feel, the poignancy.It has heart. It is thoughtful and introspective. This band just touches all the bases for me, thank you Gojira.

This piece sounds like it was motivated by a sitar, but I like the timbre of an old acoustic guitar just as well, it's different and interesting.
@zachfarooq582
Very interesting thing you mentioned there. The brothers mentioned that they really started getting into Indian 'Raga' music, of which their mother listened to a lot. Hence, the musical influence from 'Raga,' evident in this song, is somewhat of a tribute to her...

It’s not what I first think of listening to gojira but it’s definitely something I love. It’s breath of fresh air,often think of Tools right in two or disposition in this regard. Just a moment of reflection.

From what I've heard it was written by the guitarists and improvised as an ode to their mother who passed. Hence the title. The Great Liberation.

Joris Pray,Born in Winter,Low Lands,The Shooting Star,Magma,Yellow Stone,The Silver Cord,The Wild Healer,From Mars,Torii,Connected,1990 Quadrillions De Tonnes,and Unicorn are the songs similar to this in some way. Either because they’re instrumental songs,softer songs,and/or they’re melody focused songs. Most of Gojira’s music is centered around technical drumming and brutal riffs,so these songs are kind of the outliers.
