Bad Habits
Ed Sheeran Lyrics

Ooh
Every time you come around, you know I can't say no
Every time the sun goes down, I let you take control
I can feel the paradise before my world implodes
And tonight had something wonderful
My bad habits lead to late nights ending alone
Conversations with a stranger I barely know
Swearing this will be the last but it probably won't
I've got nothing left to lose, or use, or do
My bad habits lead to wide eyes staring at space
And I know I lose control of the things that I say
Yeah, I was looking for a way out, now I can't escape
Nothing happens after two
It's true, it's true
My bad habits lead to you (ooh)
My bad habits lead to you (ooh)
My bad habits lead to you
Every pure intention ends when the good times start
Falling over everything to reach the first-time spark
It started under neon lights and then it all got dark
I only know how to go too far
My bad habits lead to late nights ending alone
Conversations with a stranger I barely know
Swearing this will be the last but it probably won't
I've got nothing left to lose, or use, or do
My bad habits lead to wide eyes staring at space
And I know I lose control of the things that I say
Yeah, I was looking for a way out, now I can't escape
Nothing happens after two
It's true, it's true
My bad habits lead to you (ooh)
My bad habits lead to you (ooh)
We took the long way 'round
And burned 'til the fun ran out, now
My bad habits lead to late nights ending alone
Conversations with a stranger I barely know
Swearing this will be the last but it probably won't
I've got nothing left to lose, or use, or do
My bad habits lead to wide eyes staring at space
And I know I lose control of the things that I say
I was looking for a way out, now I can't escape
Nothing happens after two
It's true, it's true
My bad habits lead to you (ooh)
My bad habits lead to you (ooh)
My bad habits lead to you
In Bad Habits, Ed Sheeran sings about the power of bad habits. He acknowledges that every time this person he is singing about comes around, he can't resist their charm, and he lets them take control. He knows that he is heading towards an implosion, but he can feel a glimmer of paradise with this person, and that's what keeps him hooked.
The chorus explains how his bad habits lead him to a lonely ending after late nights, conversations with strangers, and a string of promises that he will eventually break. He loses control of what he says and ends up staring into space, wide-eyed. He acknowledges that he was initially looking for a way out, but now he is trapped in his bad habits, which lead him towards this person.
The bridge of the song is intriguing because we get a glimpse into how it all started under neon lights before things got dark. The person he was with took him on a ride, and he doesn't know how to stop it. He burned until the fun ran out, and now he is trapped in his bad habits that lead him towards this person.
Overall, Bad Habits is a reflection of how bad habits can take over an individual and jeopardize their life, making them cling to something that might not be for their betterment.

I’ve never really been a fan of Ed Sheeran but I heard this song in a store and wrote down the lyrics I caught so I could look it up because it was just so danceable. Pleasantly surprised it was him. This song is the definition of groovy
