The dancers would dance during breaks at block parties, so the new music would repeat the breaks indefinitely and would be specially designed for dancing repeatedly. Often, the music would contain very little lyrics, and was full of beat-boxing and scratching. Samples were frequent as well. This sub-genre of hip-hop is referred to as breaking or breakdance. The term breakdance evolved later and was used by mainstream America to refer to breakers, or b-boys, that were breaking on cardboard and concrete all across America ...

In 1983 everyone thought this video was fun, amusing and interesting. Today a lot of people seem to think it's "creepy". People today are over-sensitive in my opinion.

I guess it's a lot less creepy if you build it from scratch and know every screw.

This was an oddball guy in England who built all these robots and had them in his home. Godley and Creme, who directed it, amongst very many other famous vids they did, got the inspiration from a tv prog which had featured this guy's dusturbing wackiness.
