Volcano Girls
Veruca Salt Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Leave me, Lying here
Cause I don't want to go (3x)

Tell me, tell me what you really want from me
You've got to let me know
I'm falling off and I need you terribly
One down and one to go
Volcano Girls we really can't be beat
Warm us up and watch us blow
But now and then we fail and we admit defeat
We're falling off
We are watered down and fully grown

Leave me, lying here
cause I don't want to go (2x)

A million miles of running and I hit the wall
I bounce back and run some more
But this is it I'm giving up I'm calling quits
So get down and meet me on the floor
Way to go way to flip off everyone
I steal your thunder then I try to bolt
But I could stand a little pity now and then
I'm falling off
I am watered down and fully grown

Go I don't wanna go
I don't wanna go
I don't wanna go
I don't wanna go

I told you about the seether before
You know the one that's neither or nor
Well here's another clue if you please
The seether's Louise...

1, 2, 3, wow

Leave me lying here
Cause I don't wanna go (3x)

Leave me, leave me, leave me
Go I don't wanna go
I don't wanna go
I don't wanna go
I don't wanna go

Overall Meaning

The song Volcano Girls by Veruca Salt is a powerful rock anthem that addresses the challenges of growing up and facing the pressures of adulthood. The song's lyrics seem to be directed at someone who is pressuring the singer to grow up and move on, but she refuses to be pushed into something she isn't ready for. The repeated line "Leave me lying here, cause I don't want to go" emphasizes the singer's stubborn resistance to change.

The chorus of the song declares that the "Volcano Girls" cannot be beat, but there are moments when they fail and admit defeat. Despite this, they remain energetic and fully grown, ready for whatever life may throw their way. The lines "I told you about the seether before, you know the one that's neither or nor, well here's another clue if you please, the seether's Louise..." seem to reference an inside joke or a hypothetical person named Louise, but their meaning is unclear.

Overall, the song captures the energy and rebellious spirit of youth, while also acknowledging the difficulties and uncertainties of growing up. It encourages listeners to embrace their individuality and resist the pressure to conform.

I was 17 in the summer of 1997. I just started my first job, working at Target. My first check was like a little over $100, and I spent it all on CD's. One of them was this album, and to this day, I still remember that, and it's special cause of that. Spent the whole summer rocking out to it. Money well spent. Great band.

I went into the navy two days after turning 18 in 97. Had this album taken a few times by, um, colleagues. I'm not even mad. Hopefully they enjoyed the CDs.

@SisterSusTV

What were the other albums you got? I'm curious! We're the same age.
