@D3cyTH3r I think Michigan itself might be a little different compared to the rest of the US, at least before covid. I think since Detroit is the birthplace of techno there is more love of it there than other places. I was recently listening to a lot Detroit techno lately and there was interesting producers from all over Michigan.
So I agree with you overall about the States, that you’re not going to see techno parties with the disease that is EDM becoming so popular. But I hopeful to hear that there were was real techno parties somewhat recently in rural Michigan

Are rural people in the middle of Michigan really into techno? Some country folk into techno and some into country? Honest question as I know of course Detroit and surrounding area are heavy into techno/ house, but unsure on rest of Michigan. I’d imagine Ann Arbor is being close to Detroit.
Then there is the electric forest festival or whatever it’s called in west Michigan that plays more commercial electronic/edm nonsense.

@Keijo Teräs pretty sure there is sampler work, especially that first loop. It's actually a whole bunch of sampled synth loops re-sequenced and dubbed out. Focus on that electric sound and note the sharp cuts.

This is my desert island track. Every time I hear this, I experience it in a different way. Own this on wax and BCD. Love turning it to 11, sitting back, and taking it all in. Moritz von Oswald is part of the Bismarck bloodline, thus he has this sophistication and resources for the luxury of extreme creative brilliance (with Mark Ernestus of course). The luxuries of time, money and resources paid dividends here; I imagine days and nights sampling and resampling, reversing and re-reversing, distorting and re-distorting through endless reels of tape. The same sophistication that went into cathedrals, classical sculptures, stained-glass windows, renaissance paintings, went into analog dub-techno, probably for the first time in history. Dub techno, minilmalism? Forget them. Ask anyone around at the time and everyone knew things by the "sound" of the label. Basic Channel, Axis, UR, Probe, Plus 8, Djax, ACV, Transmat, Eevolute, PCP / Industrial Strength.....whatever. Nothing sounded like BC and nothing ever really has (and I include Chain Reaction in that, was has a sound all of its own)

It’s completely devastating.

Can you imagine the thought process of the makers? Or maybe it just happened. Either way my favourite basic Chanel. Quadrant 1:1 is better.

What i try to say is...you work on a beat or sound for some days...leave everything set up. And next morning you turn everything on and just revord the track. Thats it. Direct and full of energy...you just jam the most part and edit afterwards. Thats how it becomes so energetic and danceable

I think it just happened. People overthink the process of making techno with synth a lot. It is all subjective. Lets face it, classic musicians will laugh quietly saying this is the best track ever... Techno is about feeling, the same goesfor production. That doesnt mean tbat there isnt thought put into this track (and a lot of work), but if u have analog equipment it comes together differently. There is noise...a lot of it on each channel. That makes it often sound so alive. This track is a synth stab (maybe sampled), modulation, filter, eq and a lot of delay which is feed back via aux send back into the delay. This makes some of the phasy quality of the sound (swooshy). But i think it was enhanced somehow. This is a typical feedback delay sound and not hard to make. Nowadays people rarely use aux sends this way. No one feedbacks the return in a daw. You increase delay send or mix amount and there is less noise and no distortion. Still top notch track. Im more impressed by the mixing/ compression. I mean 93...most likely apartment studio. Just impressive as most of the old tunes
