these lyrics will always be special to me. when i used to listen to this song in high school, my mom would often be gone for months at a time to take care of my grandma in florida during the winters and during the summers i went away to camp. during the times when we were in the same place though, we always had coffee together in the morning and it was time that i cherished.

I think this video is about the balance of social structure and individual freedom in the context of social situations. In the first dance, it was very structure socially with everyone doing the same moves and constantly switching partners, they were definitely having fun doing it all together but its easy to be lost in the crowd and string of many dance partners. you have fun as a group but lost the idea of having a unique experience (sure the main girl danced with main guy, but they both danced with many other partners).
the second part of the Party context had no social structure, everyone was spread out and free to do or not do whatever they wanted. most everyone was not sober, which means that they all will have a completely unique experience beyond just being drunk. (the main guy and had unique experiences but there was not structure to bring anyone together).
the little third dance showed the context of the older middle ground of social structure and individual freedom where the each person only danced with one partner down the line. they had to dance because of the social structure of the dance, but they had a very particular experience based on their single partner. Everyone is doing the same moves but everyone gets their time to shine. (the main guy and girl got to dance with each other one on one)
the final scene shows the modern version that is less conservative due to changing times (maybe its supposed to be a club or a bar). Younger people's purpose is no long to just couple up and marry. people have the choice to be who they want to be. (in the scene's the women chose to do their own choreo instead of joining the big blob of people, but even in the big blog of people they could dance by themselves, in a group, or with a partner.)

Or its just about how you should dance with/like old people, and that parties are bad, and always bring your dance crew to the club. I just wanted to write this to procrastinate some work.
