You know, this recording is so very clean. You can hear the base, the guitar and, of course drums. You can hear them each distinctly. Ginger was amazing. In this recording, you can hear each wonderful beat, no instrument is drowning out the others. Whoever mixed it knew what they were doing. I just wish this recording wasn't cut short.

I only recently realized after more than 50 years that Cream was basically a blues band! I've never liked any other blues but I knew that I was crazy about Cream and the thought never occurred to me that what they did was blues. They completely transcended genre.

I listened to their music when I was 11-12 and simply assumed they were rock and roll because in terms of instrumentation and arrangement (particularly but not only clapton's guitar), they were closer to rock than the limited amount of blues which I knew. When I grew up and learned more about music I realized they were basically blues but with a veneer of rock. Go back and listen to their music again thinking of it this way and I'm pretty sure you'll see what I mean.

I loved this song in elementary school; obviously, the lyrics were beyond my ken, but the music was similar to the blues favored by my mother's parents just way louder. Clapton plays better guitar here than possibly any guitarist ever to play. And Ginger just pounds-- loved that -- and Jack keeps order. Sunshine is truly an important song associated with popular musics amongst english-speaking people.
