Cold
Evans Blue Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hello, I'm your martyr, will you be my gangster
Can you feel my trigger hand, moving further down your back
When you hide, hide inside that body
But just remember that when I touch you
The more you shake, the more you give away

Cold, but I'm still here, blind, ‘cause I'm so blind, say never
We're far from comfortable this time
Cold, now we're so cold, mine, and you're not mine, say never
We're far from obvious this time

Wait, another minute here, time will kill us after all
Now can you feel its second hand wrapped around your neck
So fall into my eyes and fall into my lies
But don't you forget
The more you turn away, the more I want you to stay

Cold, but I'm still here, blind, ‘cause I'm so blind, say never
We're far from comfortable this time
Cold, now we're so cold, mine, and you're not mine, say never
We're far from obvious this time

You're so endearing, you're so beautiful,
Well I don't look like they do, and I don't love like they do
But I don't hate like they do
Am I ever on your mind?

Cold, but I'm still here, blind, ‘cause I'm so blind, say never
We're far from comfortable this time
Cold, now we're so cold, mine, and you're not mine, say never
We're far from obvious this time

Cold, you broke me from the very first night
I'd love you ‘til the day that I die
I'm far too comfortable this time
Cold, I loved you from the very first night
You broke me ‘til the day that I die
I'm far too obvious this time

Overall Meaning

The song Cold by Evans Blue portrays an intense and passionate relationship between two people. The lyrics begin with the singer addressing his lover, calling himself a martyr and asking if they will be his gangster. The language used suggests a willingness to sacrifice for the sake of the relationship, while also acknowledging the danger and risk involved. The singer then describes his physical touch, speaking of his "trigger hand" moving down their back, implying a sense of control and dominance.

The chorus repeatedly uses the word "cold," but juxtaposes it with the idea of the singer still being present in the relationship. It speaks of a lack of comfort and obviousness, suggesting a certain level of tension or difficulty. The second verse continues this theme, with the singer urging his lover to remain present and not turn away. The bridge of the song takes a more introspective turn, with the singer questioning his own place in relation to others and the relationship.

Overall, the song paints a picture of a relationship that is intense but fraught with difficulties, with both parties struggling to maintain their sense of self and connection to each other.

I think I met these guys at a concert years back. We had to show signage for the radio station that was having this festival and my boyfriend was off playing Hackeysack with some other people leaving me and my sister in a 103 degree day,sweating out butts off,unaware where he exactly was due to the crowd by the stage was so packed.

But when the radio station workers came around looking for people who had the stations channel name or station written or on your shirt or merchandise on;you got to meet the band.

So we didn’t have clothes but we had sharpies. We each wrote the radio station on our arms our legs and got to meet this band….

My sisters bf had a cd to sign,my sister got to have him sign the booklet in the cd and I didn’t have anything….so I did what any show girl could do at that moment.

Lifted mY shirt and had them each sign

Amazing work and an amazing memory that my bf got to miss bc he was hackey sacking…
The marker didn’t rub off for like months but amazing

*** I LOVE THIS SONG ***

@RyanLee1986

I hate when people say this. The fact that all of your friends and classmates weren't listening to this made it all that much more special feeling. Going mainstream is rarely good.

@awokendemon2734

agreed

@stevenstolzenfeld3068

Sorry, but this song was mainstream af for like two years.

@RyanLee, I think it's quite SELFISH, for your personal reasons🙄, to not share this great music with ANYONE with an open mind... The more accolades the better... Even if they go commercial (which they did with new singer😢), I STILL go back to the early material and say a THANK YOU to the friend who introduced me to this treasure because they weren't selfish...❤🤘🏿
