Constant Conversations
Passion Pit Lyrics

Well you're wrapped up in a blanket and you're staring at the floor
The conversation's moderated by the noisy streets below
I never wanna hurt you baby, I'm just a mess with a name and a price
And now I'm drunker than before, they told me drinking doesn't make me nice

You never know where some people will go
Yeah some people been hurtin' me
You can tell by look, by the slightest crook
In the neck or the blink of an eye

Well then we'll see what they say and we'll do what they do
But that doesn't mean a goddamn thing
You can listen if you want, you can listen if you don't
Yeah they'll talk, yeah they'll even sing

Everybody now, oh oh oh oh oh
They come singing through the window, singing through the trees, yeah
They're singing trough the bright spring leaves
Everybody now, oh oh oh oh oh
Yeah they love you when they need you, but someday you're gonna need to
Find some other kind of place to go, oh

Now you're standing in the kitchen, and you're pouring out my drink
Well there's a very obvious difference, and it's that one of us can think
If there's a bump in the road yeah you fix it,
But for me I'll just run off the road
But tonight you've got me cornered, and I haven't got a place to go

You never know where some people will go
Yeah some people been hurtin' me
You can tell by look, by the slightest crook
In the neck or the blink of an eye

Well then we'll see what they say and we'll do what they do
But that doesn't mean a goddamn thing
You can listen if you want, you can listen if you don't
Yeah they'll talk, yeah they'll even sing

Everybody now, oh oh oh oh oh
They come singing through the window, singing through the trees
Yeah they're singing trough the bright spring leaves
Everybody now, oh oh oh oh oh (sing it loud, sing it loud)
Yeah they love you when they need you, but someday you're gonna need to
Find some other kind of place to go, don't you know
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh

Since hearing Passion Pit in early 2012, this is still my favorite go-to song.

megan smith

This is my favourite passion pit song but I have no clue why

whipper snapper

The rest have more of a happy sound. This one is a little more slow burning and intimate.

Nick-E Nicole

I read an interview with him and he said this song was about his mental health.

So I think I figured some of it out. This video is about addiction and how it's impacting an already fucked up family. There isn't a single person in the video not addicted to something or breaking the rules some way. Also the snake represents temptation and sin and is a metaphor for the family because it is kept hidden. The fact that that guy lies down next to it represents his embracing his vices unlike the rest of the family, probably why he is estranged.

I think it's more about him being manic depressive. He came out about the stuggle before not that long before the album came out. The interactions were more to look at others flaws than to look inward to the gaping wound in his life. It also corresponds with the lyrics that show suspicion and doubt, double think, and prognostication.

I was diagnosed 7 years ago. It sounds like and looks like what I go through.

@Sanjith Hegde It wasn't necessarily an apple. ;) It was also Eve, not Adam. But neither corrections are too relevant, I just felt like leaving a comment on this video, as I'll probably never be back here again (I got here because a friend linked it).
