Benson Arizona
John Yager Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A million suns shine down
But I see only one
When I think I'm over you
I find I've just begun
The years move faster than the days
There's no warmth in the light
How I miss those desert skies
Your cool touch in the night

Benson, Arizona, the warm wind through your hair
My body plies the galaxy, my heart longs to be there
Benson, Arizona, the same stars in the sky
But they seemed so much kinder when we watched them, you and I

Benson, Arizona, the warm wind through your hair
My body plies the galaxy, my heart longs to be there
Benson, Arizona, the same stars in the sky
But they seemed so much kinder when we watched them, you and I

Now the years pull us apart
I'm young and now you're old
But you're still in my heart
And the memory won't grow cold
I dream of times and spaces
I left far behind
Where we spent our last few days
Benson's on my mind

Benson, Arizona, the warm wind through your hair
My body plies the galaxy, my heart longs to be there
Benson, Arizona, the same stars in the sky
But they seemed so much kinder when we watched them, you and I

The lost 3rd stanza:
Now the seasons flick on by
like seconds on this ship.
An' I take another pull
from the flask that's at my hip.
The mighta-beens and the never-weres
can drive a man insane.
So-I think I'll stay out in the Void
'cause Benson's not the same.

Country, by far the best music genre to be used in a scifi film. Epic tune, thank you for the upload.

My father grew up in and near Benson, AZ, a town known mainly for its railroad, the Horseshoe CafĆ©, and a Dairy Queen that was closed during the "cold, cold" winters. šŸ˜† Growing up, I spent many summers there and in nearby St. David. I was amazed when I heard the intro to "Dark Star," a movie that just happened to air to a disinterested audience in my living room several months ago. I've been listening to this song on occasion ever since....

I've never been to Benson, however I have stood on a corner in Winslow, Arizona.

@Metor153

I found this song after watching Dark Star after watching Jodorowsky's Dune after reading Herbert's Dune after watching David Lynch's Dune. The Internet is a wonderful thing.

Even though it's years old, this is the best thing I've seen on the Internet today.

@BaronVonYolo

You forgot Dune II from Westwood Games which at last brought me to the movie šŸ¤”šŸ˜‚
