What I love about this track, and really the whole album, is that it utilizes the concept of "silence as an instrument," which hasn't been used a lot lately. In fact, in the so-called "loudness wars," silence has been put to rest. John Frusciante revives it with this one, and it really adds a whole other dimension to the song. Great man, great musician, great artist.

Every once in a while I come back to this song and it makes me just fucking cry every damn time. There's something about the emotion in John's solo work that is so raw and authentic. I can't describe it but I love it to death.

Yeah dude, I first heard this song a couple weeks ago. I had just watched the little documentary they did with RHCP for their Blood Sugar Sex Magik album.
I fell in love with this song here and have been listening to it on repeat! Beautiful!

Nobody else sounds like this guy, he is truly one of a kind. He is such a simple guy, who lives a simple life where everything he does has something to do with music, he lives and breathes music. I remember Flea saying John doesn't have a credit card, and Anthony saying he doesn't know how to drive, he doesn't function in the same reality as most people. I was gutted when he left the Chili's, but I fully understand and respect why he did it, he wanted to switch things up and go do his own stuff. I love his stuff with the Chili's but I think his solo stuff is where he really shines, because he has FULL control over everything. I hope to see him back with the Chili's one more time before they call it quits.

I feel like this is one of the most magical songs in my life. I haven't been listening lot of Frusciantes music lately but about ten years ago his music was most important to me. I think there never has been any album that has made such an impact to me as a person than Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt did. It kinda made me crazy for a while, diving so deep in to Frusciantes reality at the time of recording that album and making it out of that certain type of insanity was one of the most beautiful things in my musical and personal past. Anyways just wanted to tell you about the time i heard Anne for first time and it worked as a catalyst for me really going deep into Frusciantes stuff. I had been listening to RHCP since i was child and i knew Frusciante from that and also my friends were very much into his solo stuff, but i was still hugely unfamiliar of what he had really going on.

I was around nineteen year old or so and back then we used to sit around in my friends apartment smoking weed, talking about everything while playing video games and listening to music. That was our daily routine at that time and i still feel like it was one of the best times in my life. We all had listened to Frusciante and RHCP and i would say we all were big fans of both. This one time my friends older brother was visiting and on his turn to decide what song would play next and he put on Anne that none of us had heard before. I think i've never felt an atmosphere like that. Everyone went completely silent. And it wasn't just us being quiet but there was this powerful feeling. This sort of stillness in the air. I felt like we all were feeling exactly the same and it was all because of this song. The atmosphere came from the fact that we together as a group of friends, as a group of people, as a group of human beings were experiencing something very special and extraordinary. That moment really changed my perception of music as a proof of the fact that a perfect song can elevate to being something quite a bit more than just music in its wondrous beauty. I'm not a great wordsmith and i can't quite describe the feeling that was filling the room when we heard Anne for the first time but i will forever cherish that moment in my memories.
