Highwayman
Willie Nelson Lyrics

I was a highwayman
Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive

I was a sailor
I was born upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still

I was a dam builder
Across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around
I'll always be around and around and around and around and around

I fly a starship
Across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again

This one is for Orio Palmer, Batallion 7 Chief of FDNY.

I was a fire chief.
Into the Towers I did go.
And my fear I did not show,
We looked for survivors among the smoke and all the flames,
We refused to leave if someone still remained.
And there we stayed until the Towers fell to the ground.
But I am still around.

Rest in peace, Chief Palmer. You are remembered.

Sain poikimahalvauksen
Ne soitti eläinlääkärin
Ja pullon kalkkia tietenkin
Mutta mikään enää auttanut mua ei
Lauhaluoma minut Honkajoelle vei
Mä jouduin tislaamoon
ja tankkiin dieselin
Mä elän vieläkin
En suostu kuolemaan

God bless everyone in 2020

But our loved ones will

Still be around and around

I’ll find a place to bury my spirit

If I can

But I will remain

But I’ll be back again and agian and again and again and again

@Constable Dodo Yeah, Johnny Cash isn't listened to at all these days, not like his swan song was one of the most heralded exits in music history. And I guarantee thousands of these comments are from under 50, myself included.

And what specifically did you find racist and misogynistic? The closest I can figure is Willie's verse, but even that's a stretch.

Constable Dodo

If by "manly" you mean misogynistic and bigoted/racist then yes, its definitely "manly".

songs like this don't get play on the radio, and if they do its on some random white folk station that only old white pale skins listen to. Thankfully its not played or listened to by anyone under 50 years old.
