People don't play him enough to realise how much outplay potential he has
Blocking a Yasuo Q to prevent a 5 man R and wasting it on only 1 person

Using W on a minion to jump right next to the enemy and immediately knocking them up and slowing them with your R and using your E to block all projectiles from going to your team while doing a ton of damage reduction is actually game-changing
Either they try to walk out and heavily slowed
Or they use it on the braum with reduced effectiveness
Two people who MIGHT be able to do something would have a passive applied on them so they can't respond

Just make sure you get Bramble vest to get assists for blocking since your E doesn't count LOL

For people who want a tip or two on how to play him a bit better:

- on laning phase look for minions you can jump to. In lower elos it's so easy to catch people like that. After you dash, either go for a short trade or bit of extended trade and start with Q in a real majority of the time (depends how strong and fast can your adc can proc the passive, procing passive with only 1 auto from your adc is also rather easy, so don't worry about that, just start exchange with Q).

- Just think of your jump as a reposition skill and not armor. Most of the time, if you want to protect someone you either peel for him, so you stay on the enemy and not him or if you jump to someone of your team it's for escape, chase or immediate shield, so that armor buff is not something you should really think of when thinking about the jump.

- your ult is perfect for cutting people's escape routes. Ideally, aim for them and for their escape route. Sometimes you can just cut their escape route and they are not going to escape.

- Your Q lvl 1 is dogshit, don't use it for harras, waste of mana

- as Braum your usefulness drops real quick after you use your skills in engage, so yeah, keep that in mind.

- use E to get to your destination faster from base or while chasing people down

- use E when you are tanking a melee who is attacking you or/and a ranged champ as a way to cut their dmg off. If you want to save it for a specific moment such as Twitch R or Brand R, just save it as you see fit.

- just look at your teammates and synergize with them. I think it's rather easy and an ideal playstyle for Braum most of the time.

- remember your ult is also cast around you, so if you are hugging someone, you don't even need to aim, but try cutting off their escape route or their teammates.

@Yam Moto 1: Creeps are not a constant, you cant expect there top be either creeps for him to stack Q on or to E towards, what if its in jungle? river? What if minions are pushed up?

2: Braums W applies to his target but how much? since its the ability you level last, for most of the game it will be 10 + 12% armor and MR. So, what would a braum have? most of the game roughly 100 armor and 50 mr if he has Locket, Knights vow and Zeke's which are some of his most common items. Thats 22 Armor and 16 MR for the Adc. Not exactly what you could consider life saving.

3: You need to reevaluate that uptime arguement, Yas wind wall is up 3,75s. Braums wall is scaling, 3 / 3.25 / 3.5 / 3.75 / 4 secs, since Wall is usually the second skill you level, he will have LESS uptime than Yas for the majority of the game.

4: Only a bronze would think that Morg has that much control over who she even can target for a Q. If your team is running, she will Q the furthest behind to catch someone. If enemy team is running, she will Q the one in the front to prevent them from chasing. Morg isnt going to break off to the side and try and make some kind of trick shot on the adc, nor would she be able to.

5: Yes he reduces all dmg taken, but we are specifically talking projectiles here since, you know, thats the entire point of his ability? If you wanna talk melee dmg reduction there are ALOT of champs with better of that as well, including Pantheon.

Braum CANT be as tanky as a full on tank, he will midgame 3 items in have around 100 armor, 50 mr and 2200 health with a 40% dmg reduction for 4 seconds every 8 seconds AT BEST, this not accounting for the dmg sharing of Knights vow of course. Meanwhile your average tank building sunfire, thorn and maybe spirit visage will be able to mitigate FAR MORE dmg, which makes sense of course, we are talking about a laner v supporter, but the point im making is that, Braums shield only mitigates 40% at max level, he will get shreded by a 2-3 item adc EASILY, which in turn completely negates all of the effectiveness of his shield entirely.

What Braum can do is that he can mitigate good dmg in early laning phase since his shield is 30% level 1. But after you hit the mid game, he is pointless. Riot could easily make him more usefull (like giving higher mitigation on targets affected by his passive), or an even more reasonable approach, reduce the effectiveness of other projectile negation in the game, but we know they dont like nerfing their poster children.

Anyways we wont ever agree on this it seems so ive said my piece now.

@Deamin No, Kiting means to evade enemies while still dealing damage to them. And no he is not gonna be furthest back, he is going to look for creeps to Q so he can slow them down but if your team has a tank he doesn't need to do that he can just run.

Braum can as you forget his W buff applies to both him and his target and again just being in the way of attacks and body blocking can mitigate a lot of damage. And in what universe is the Yas gonna strait up kill the Zac? He is a skirmirsher not a mage, he is not built for one shotting he is built for snowballing and sustained damage. In other words Braum will keep the adc alive while yas will waste time as the enemy kills the adc.

The scenario you mentioned on engaging means that Yas is probably going to use his windwall as soon as the first morg Q comes out which means he wastes the windwall, its uptime is low and he will die soon afterward because his main defensive skill is down.

Morgana is not going to Q the closest enemy, only a bronze thinks like that, she is going to Q an enemy thats either a threat or someone she believes the team can burst down, if she wastes her Q on the closest enemy that doesn't fit the criteria then her power to offset the enemy's engage is gone.

The damage negation is only to projectiles while Braums damage reduction is to literally everything.

While he doesn't have the tank stats of a true tank his abilities allow him during their uptime to become temporary as tanky as they are, naturally he can be burst down when his buffs are unavailable no different than any other warden. The big thing that makes Braum dangerous for the enemy team is that he can force them to damage him rather than his team, which is a form of damage mitigation.

@Yam Moto 1: Disengaging dosent mean kiting, kiting means attempting to create and engage... Also positioning? since Yas is gonna be the deepest in enemy lines, once you run, he is going to be furthest back as well.

2: Braum cant defend his adc from a Zac anymore than a Yas can by killing him and your scenario here REQUIRES a different offtank to take over the defence, which now opens up the entire conversation to the rest of the positions and creates too many variables for reasonable discussion. We cant start to create scenarios in which literally every champ in the game is on each team and where they are and what they would do.

3: If Yas windwalls enemy projectiles, what is he gonna die to? in that scenario he is windwalling what he would otherwise die to, why imagine that he will windwall needlessly in the start of a fight?

4: Morg is gonna Q the person in the front because Morg Q is a first hit skillshot. SHE CANT HIT ANYONE ELSE.

5: You are SEVERELY overestimating the tankiness of a tank SUPPORT who will at any point in the game, have less stats tank stats than a full tank toplaner who will still be ripped apart by several dmg dealers in the current meta. His E is percentage reduction, but windwall is NEGATION. Samira is NEGATION. They dont even need to concern themselves with tank stats couse they straight up NEGATE dmg.

An ez fix would be simple... Just give him more damage, like allow him to build damage, he still lacks the instant and chained cc or range and early game pressure other supports have, so it should help... He's not played much just cause he cant chump the enemy carries.

The solution is simple: MAKE BRAUM TANKIER! Way tankier.

If you're playing Braum correctly, you should be eating a lot of damage. And I mean a LOT of damage. Even with reduced damage from his E, the amount of projectiles you eat in a teamfight is still too much for Braum. Think about it...

Warwick's E at rank 1 reduces damage taken from ALL sources, by 35%. Braum's E at rank 5 reduces damage - only from PROJECTILES - by 40%, and only from the direction the shield is in. That's stupid. Really, really stupid.

A warden whose entire kit revolves around absorbing damage should not be squishier than vangaurds, and definitely not squisher than a brawler.

Yeah but Warwick's E doesn't stop projectiles, it only reduces the damage he takes from them. One of the most useful aspects of Braum's E is how it can nullify enemy ults just by standing in front of them. Warwick does have a silencing R, but it only works at close-to-medium range and can be bodyblocked by the enemy frontliners. I agree that if defensive champions aren't good enough, then they should simply be buffed and then be given some vulnerabilites to compensate for the inevitable cheese strategies, but it's not like Braum is outclassed by other champions in his own job

The only time I've ever soaked as much damage as Nautilus/Leona is when going for health regen early.

The one perk that Braum has over literally every champion in the game is that he has two damage resistance abilities. Some people find that to be bad because it sacrifices CC and a shield would give him more agency to soak damage. However, it is extremely effective with health regen. I'm talking down to the level of rejuvenation beads.

With multiple rejuvenation beads he can transform to someone who needs to back after managing to eat 3 Brand W's to someone who never needs to go back due to how he can just regen all the health the lost back. Normally this isn't feasible for other tanks since it gets in the way of all in potential, but Braum doesn't have a problem with this since his all in potential doesn't hold as much weight to him compared to other tanks. Also the fact that he has 2 damage reduction abilities means that it's far more difficult to burst him to death with poke than other tanks.

As a result, the change to Knight's Vow does quite a lot for him since it gives him a reason to build 2 rejuvenation beads early. It's also an item that just makes a lot of sense given the purpose of his kit.

I honestly think he is amongst the champs that you really need to invest time into before he can be effective (more effective than the enemy support). Also he works much better with premades or competitive play than in solo queue. His E is very hard to use in the right time, his R is very easily dodgable and most people expect you to use it aggressively which is the wrong way to use it. Overall, I think the main reason is that he's kinda hard to play even if he doesn't seem so. You really need experience to make him shine. Also he has the least synergy with non adc champ than any other support (mainly cus most other champs have a hard time utilizing his passive).
This is my opinion as a 3 million Braum player, as to no one plays Braum, in short he's weak unless you are really experienced with him.

As someone with a lot of time in braum, i'd say he's actually got a similar situation to a lot of enchanter supports. He's only as good as how aggressive you're willing to be with him. W in front of an entire lane, q the enemy adc at level 3, and you can snowball the entire game from there. The issue being, why not just play leona if you want to be aggressive.

As a tank support main (mainly Rell and Nautilus) I still love this guy, every time I play Aram I try to play as Braum because he is so fun to play there. And he is such a wholesome dude I just want to give him a hug.

Before watching the vid I'll say my piece: I play braum when I want to be the hero my ADC needs, but unlike some enchanters I have no way to give them sustain in lane. I love hopping into the heat of things and taking the blows to save my ADC, but when they still get hit once or twice and have to back its all for naught.

After watching the vid here is what I think I'd do to make braum more relevant: honestly just make his enchanter side more relevant, give his w healing or a shield. I'd maybe even make his w and e one ability, which can be cast on a teammate to make him both hop to them and lift his shield, then give him another ability that can be some kind of sustain or buff.

Its not even nullification, simply dmg nullification but still projectile absorbsion. If a Morgana tries to Q Yasuo or Samira, it wont hit. If a Morgana tries to Q a Braum, the dmg wont hit, but the projectile will, meaning he will be rooted. Its THE worst projectile wall in the game, worse than Pantheons since he actually annuls dmg for the entire duration.

@Deamin I just disagree that its the worst projectile blocking skill, its far from it, I will admit Braum feels better when your team has a lead than playing from behind. Because he generally needs that strong early to push your adc into the the mid game so that his input is less of a necessity.

But he does have his short comings, some matchups are just not favourable for him like Pyke and Senna. Where as other times he can be amazing like against cait or Lucian. It also depends on his lane partner which in low elo isn't something sensible to rely on.

I personally think they should revert his ultimate as I'm pretty sure the point of it functioning the way it originally did was to give him an option to deal with an assassin diving his carry. Now it just feels bad to use imo.

W is also used to initiate, especially of the enemy is nearby an allied wave, you dash to a minion, hit q and stun the target, it's almost always a guaranteed kill on an unsuspecting target (if any ally is nearby and follows up on your play that is)

As a proud Mastery 7 Braum, I'm both saddened and happy to see this. I find he pairs very well with certain champions, like Aphelios and Vayne, and I just love how much peel he provides. I feel like a savior whenever I play him, it always feels good to block an entire Miss Fortune R or Jhin R.

I've dabbled in the occasional "bruiser Braum" in the top lane, since he can be a fairly potent duelist if you build him like one, but his utter lack of waveclear makes it hard to pull off.

and falls off horribly, gets kited to hell, has mainly single target damage so useless in a teamfight. I say this as a TK top player - no matter how much I can bully a riven or irelia in lane they will 1v4 my team while I get 4v1ed trying to stop the rest of their team

The best way to play Braum is with a friend who plays a champ that synergies well with him. You’ll better understand each other, know your strengths, and can cover for each other. It’s what me and my brother did, and those were my favorite league matches

I think adding the ability to do alt + right click to change the direction his E is facing mid use would bring him up a little. Kinda like how Annie can control Tibbers but instead it's his shield.

Because Leona, Alistar, Rell, and Thresh are somehow better than Braum. I mean aren't ADC weak right now? Jhin has 2 skillshots in his kit and Braum can just block it. Braum can interrupt Samira from dashing. Aphelios also has skillshots and Braum can also just block it. I think he's an underrated support. He can play aggressive and punish engages.

@Magical Mage nowdays almost everything is sup diff, if you can't roam and engage properly ur performance is going to suffer! Mid diff? Nah sup diff! Jgl diff?! Obviously Braum is really really good at those things you listed, but the other champs have similar levels of lockdown while also being great at engaging.

The idea of supports sitting around and just peeling is a bit outdated nowadays, even Sorakas and Jannas are expected to be a bit of an early bully nowadays.

It definitely wouldn't fix the warden problem entirely but I think making it so Braum's ult does more dmg and cc when furthest and directly around him (as in directly directly) + making his Q have a slightly lower cooldown or less mana cost while doing a little more dmg would help

One change they could make that would make him stronger but not broken is,
When he W a target that champion's next basic attack applies one stack of his passive

This would increase the use of his w and make his stun faster since every new champion had 5 dashes and blinks

I used to main this strongman with a heart of gold. The situational use and lack of quick cc really makes him harder to use when teamfights feel more dive and burst heavy these days.

Honestly I'm newer to LoL but I play braum when ever I can, but I think to make Braum more viable would make is W have a stun attached to it like if an enemie champ is near the target they get stunned and applied a stack of his passive this stun doesn't have to damage either, but I think something else that would help is if his E had a way to pass a shield to an ally like 50% of that damage was passed to the ally just give your team a little more survivability

I think it would be cool if his w “binded” him to that ally and then in turn that ally gained Braums e move speed. I don’t think braum gains extra movespeed when he destroys the initial projectile but if he did those two changes could give him a lot more kill threat in lane

Just to buy time for my team to reposition or get out if it seems like a losing battle. I always keep saying”run you fools” when such a thing happens.

I remember the first time I played braum way back when he first got released. our jinx got caught out farming near enemy towers, she got mf ulted and was ignited and was about to die. I flashed in, leaped to jinx and positioned my e mid air while simultaneously giving my adc the face of the mountain shield back when it was a thing. I never felt so cool blocking the mf ult as Braun's shield lights up as I protect the jinx with only a sliver of her hp.

Sadly braum got so many nerfs to his e, it isn't the same anymore. But I'll never forget just how good he was.

Braum was my first ever M7 and favourite Champion. Honestly love his kit. HoB Braum was my go to. Only issue i have with him is you need to have communication with the ADC or the Jungler. So many players just dont know what he does because of his niche

braum was my first ever main, I think something that would be such an easy fix would be to make his ult apply a passive mark to everyone it hits, which gives him much more pressure and impact as he usually tends to struggle marking backline enemies

I would just make him a full vanguard, change his E from "stand behind me" to "bruam is here" and make it is so he can dash to enemies effected by his passive adding a stack, remove the bonus armor instead grant allies decaying move speed and slow resist. His shield will still have the begining absorption but then I would have it reduce dammage to braum from that direction and it damages and slows enemies around him when something his his shield. The final cherry on this rework cake would be making people hit by the beginning of his Ult get knock to the side. This should allow his Ult to divide the front line and extended CC the backline. The new dash gives his some engage and lets him stack his passive easier by himself because he can start with his q then e in to get in range for two autos. also removing the Def Stats in place movement speed makes the impact more noticeable and versatile. Making the shield a bit less defensive and a little more offensive so it can be more defensive by not relying on you team to stand behind you to defend them now you stand near the enemy team and slow them (maybe Atk speed slow also?). Im welcome to all well intentioned critisism also I have no idea what numbers, cooldowns, and scaling should be.

Braum has my second highest win rate after Leona in the suport position. I play him just like I play Leona aby picking him with teams that have hard engage like lee sin, ekko or wukong, jumping on them after they engage and turning them into a malphite. People don't expect Braum to be aggressive, catches them off guard every time.
