@iCommentator3000 Anytime she gets success the pretentious detractors come out with an essay rationale for why said success is not valid. She put on a performance that was watched by millions and it boosted her streaming therefore landing it in the top 10. That is valid. People could have just not clicked or stayed longer than the 30-40 second mark that would make their view count. But they did. Majority of the top 40 hits today are due entirely to streaming rather than sales. Dope was just one of the early examples of streaming boosting a song that might not have charted so high otherwise.

Well it only reached the top 10 because YouTube desperately wanted us to give a shit about their YouTube Music Awards thing, so they put on a site wide advert of her performance of Dope from the show. For some reason this meant the video got views, and as such the streaming went through the roof, landing it in the Top 10.

It sold about 33k copies in that week, which would have landed it just outside the Top 40 (100k with no streaming or radio will get you between 30-35, like Venus).

Sorry but I don’t hear what some of you over-exaggerators hear. Now that we’re 7 years removed from the drama of this albums release, this track is not as awful as I remember. BUT, it’s vocals and lyrics are so annoyingly melodramatic and performative which matches her corny performance of the track with her crocodile actress tears. I love Gaga, but this is why you see a lot of fans not liking the track. It also was our first introduction to her operatic type vocals that she has since perfected. The fans are also aware that she whipped this track up in like 5 seconds because the label didn’t like the ballad she actually wanted to put on the album. So that’s another reason it leaves a bitter taste in some mouths.

Million Reasons is good, it’s better live than on the album. If she were to have recorded a lot of the vocal flourishes she adds in live onto the album version it would have been her best ballad no question, imo. I still think that honor goes to Speechless. And the piano version of Joanne is a close runner up.

People: the meaning of the cover is simple. The teeth and injuries reflect the harm that drugs (or whatever) left on her, a permanent reminder of her sins. The hood that covers her eyes means she's ashamed of doing what she did. She uses her raw voice because she s displaying herself as a simple human who makes mistakes. It s the deepest expression of regret, and the photo mixes the song perfectly

I actually think this is my favorite album. It doesn't have my favorite lady gaga songs (marry the night and more) but overall the entire album is great. The best way to explain it is it can listen to every song in this album and jam while her previous albums had fewer great songs. People now just care for the singles.

To everyone who finds the cover is scary, that's the point. This isn't an artsy statement, this is how you're when you're gone, when its addiction over family and friends. If you don't notice the grill is to give the effects of what drugs does to your health, the "bite"marks on her leg, are actually injected areas as well as inflicted areas, the bruising, the pain. The hair and hat represent the lost of self respect, the shame you feel, the style/her outfit represents what you become, an outcast, people don't recognize you, you don't recognize you. This isn't artsy fartsy oh she's trying to look fashionable. This is a statement, if it doesn't scare, GAGA hasn't done her job. Commendable, but people think oh she mediates because she's trying to look like some aristocrat or sophisticated. Everything Gaga does, the way she is portrayed she sees it as a means of spreading something that is affecting her that is her inspiration, and though it gets lost in translation sometimes, its a difference of mainstream media artistically opinion over gaga's.

I remember this song and I watched it on ymv when she sang, you can see that she was hurting and in pain, I cried when I saw that video. Then she said in an interview that she just wanted to be happy.

This song for me really hits different right now. My ex boyfriend (we broke up 5 weeks ago) he tried so fucking hard to keep me as sober as he could. He is straight edge and hated I drink and smoke. He did everything he could and I’m so thankful for him. Without him I might have overdosed. He was the only person who cared. I was sober for 5 months and then we broke up and I had started again. I’m thankful he kept me sober for a long time. I don’t think I can do that again without him...
