Manifesto
The City Harmonic Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We believe in the one true God
We believe in Father Spirit Son
We believe that good has won

And all of the people of God sing along

Amen

We are free He died and lives again
We will be a people free from sin
Well be free a kingdom with no end

And all of the people of God sing along

Amen

Our father who art in Heaven, hallowed by thy name
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who have trespassed against us
Lord lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil
For thine Is the kingdom, power and the glory forever

We're singing
Amen.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The City Harmonic's Manifesto revolve around the Christian faith and the belief in God as the one true entity. The opening lines of the song assert this belief in a confident and unambiguous manner. The song follows with the statement of faith in the Father, Spirit, and Son, a reference to the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity. The final statement in these lines, "We believe that good has won," refers to the ultimate victory over evil that Christianity teaches about.

In the second stanza, the song speaks of the freedom that the believers have through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The aim is to live a life free from sin, in a kingdom that has no end. The repetition of the phrase "And all of the people of God sing along" emphasizes the collective nature of the faith and how believers are part of a larger community. The final chorus then brings together the teachings of the Bible in the recitation of the Lord's Prayer, concluding with the word "Amen," which indicates agreement with the words spoken.

I used to listen to this all the time when I was younger, right after I was saved. Father, it's been almost 10 years... I know I'm not perfect. Forgive me when I stumble. I love you. Never let me go. Amen.

@rrreaderrabbit

I heard this song at my middle school ministry called Edge. It's one of my favorite song that our band plays. I must say, the original is really good as well, but no one can sing it the same as us. I came back from a retreat called Fall Fusion just recently. There were around 150 or so middle schoolers. You would've been so surprised how loud we shouted for our Father in Heaven. We memorized the song withing two church services. This sure brings back wonderful memories(:
